CLASSIC Alcos, And BIG GEs On The Western New York And Pennsylvania Railroad

Chasing The Western New York And Pennsylvania Railroad
ALCO Locomotives STILL Working On Teh Western New York And Pennsylvania
In this video, we venture to Olean, NY. Olean is home to the Western New York And Pennsylvania Railroad, which uses a good selection of GE locomotives, including AC6000CWs, C430s, C636s, and more. We started on Thursday, chasing the OL2 west out of Olean on his run to Falconer, we broke off the chase just west of Salamanca, NY and headed back to the yard. Apon arrival to the WNYP yard, the duo of Ex. CSXT AC6000 locomotives were gone from their housing track. We headed down the Buffalo Line and finally caught them coming into Turtlepoint, PA, this is where scenes from the popular Railroad movie "Unstoppable" were filmed. We chased the fast 40mph train into Liberty, PA before breaking off. To end the week, we chased the Farmers Valley, PA turn job into Port Allegany, and then into Farmers Valley. It was definitely a great week on the WNYP and I hope you guys enjoy just as much as I did making it!
Stay tuned for a Buffalo And Pittsburgh video coming soon🫣

The Western New York & Pennsylvania Railroad extends across southwestern New York and northwestern Pennsylvania from Hornell, NY to Meadville, PA and Oil City, PA and north and south of Olean, NY. The affiliated Livonia, Avon & Lakeville operates in Livingston and Monroe Counties, south of Rochester, NY. The B&H Rail Corp. serves Steuben County, northwest of Corning, NY.
The shipment of oil from Olean grew from a few barrels to more than 20,000 barrels a day. By 1878 there were 150 paying wells in the vicinity. Olean was incorporated as a city on April 25, 1893. By the early 1900’s Olean had become an established industrial center.

8:32 Can’t imagine how awkward it must be for the engineer to run the lead AC6000CW long hood forward. They weren’t exactly designed for that role.

@@blueridgerails Apparently, that’s why the DASH 9-40CW was built exclusively for Norfolk Southern. It features a conventional locomotive control stand instead of a desktop one like on other GE widecabs to make it easier for switching moves and, in this case, running long hood forward.

Quite the Alco stronghold and the GEs are pretty decent too. The odd angle Bridge provided a good backdrop it just shows how intense the railroad industry was in the east. They certainly do serve some interesting Industries with varied commodities some of which you don't expect to see. Glad you were able to catch #432 the C430 but they are extremely rare and its in the same red paint as the Green Bay and Western used on their unit. One small hint is that you probably want to mix up your music a bit as you've used this song now probably five or six times and then becomes too predictable. Glad you had a good time out east and I look forward to the next tape

Definitely, the alcos are one of my favorites! They definitely have a sweet paint scheme and the industries are cool too! The song is licensed to me and has basically became the Blue Ridge Rails theme song. I am wanting it to be a "When you hear that song, you know it's a BRR video" sorta thing. Thank you for watching, and I'm glad you enjoyed!
