Hi Nigel, thanks for watching. I travelled from Basingstoke to London Waterloo for a good number of years, I always tried to catch the Exeter service just to ride behind a 33, 50 and finely 47's before the class 159 emu's took over. They were all great diesels but the Hoovers were best apart from when the odd one would blow up!! Cheers Pete

Wow, brilliant capture mate, wish I’d been there to see it for real! thanks for sharing and all the best, hopefully we’ll be able to get back to some of these brilliant heritage lines in the non to distant future. Have been watching a few of my east lancs railway videos to reminisce over some similar diesel footage! Thanks mate, Paul

So much better with headlight removed. Now they need to restore the air intake fans to get the hoover sound back.

Anyone commenting about the ammount of clag even on a warm engine that poor thing has a 14 mile run on the SVR where it only needs to idle to generate the volts needed. The engine must be sooted up to buggar. They need opening up and loaded up at speed which obviously they cant do on that line.

In NSW (Australia) that used to be known as the "haze of efficiency" by some! NSW railways had several hundred of locally built ALCos, which were pretty smoky

Hi Gray, thanks for watching and your comments. Most of the diesels are from the 50's so over fifty years old. Although not very friendly to the environment it is great to see a diesel being given a bit of welly...Cheers Peter H

Hi Steve, I guess that maybe you didn't enjoy the video. I travelled up to London Waterloo from Basingstoke throughout the Class 50 period and to be honest I was never let down by one. I would always where possible travel on a Waterloo to Exeter service and this included 33's and 47's both suffering from failures. Anyway thanks for watching and commenting. Cheers Pete
