    Fucking loved the stone over bar format. They could do something like that on the deadlift, log and stones on Giants Live/WSM. Interesting way to put the entire field on a head to head event. Can you imagine Zydrunas outpressing Brian, Thor and Eddie all in one go? Or Eddie deadlifting for days? Or maybe Tom vs Trey vs Brian vs Martins at the stone over bar, that would be legendary! What a battle of event. I need more of that.

    It looks really cool but doesn't seem fairm your rest is determined by how fresh the other guys you're against are, or how good at stones they are, so it's not the same for everyone. If multiple people tap out between you you get slightly longer while they change as well, and nevermind that going last means you get max reps every rep.

    The thing I admire the most about lower weight strength athletes are their mobility, they are so fast, agile, aggressive .... move it like a cardio-like athletes that makes it more fun to see. Clash on the Coast is the one that I like to see their mobility strength test to it

    The circus dumbbell event is so interesting because it seems so very dependent on technique. Lot of great overhead pressers don't do as well on the dumbbell as I suspect, and some people whose overhead press isn't there best event press the dumbbell much easier than those who are more overhead specialists. Easily one of my favorite events to watch just because I can never quite predict what will happen, unless of course novikov is competing then we know the heaviest dumbbell will be lifted and for as many reps as humans possible in the alotted time.

  • @thorthewolf8801

    Because people try to push press it instead of jerking it. They would do much better in other overhead events if they jerked the weights, but they dont do that for some strange reason.

    @@thorthewolf8801 tbf you see a lot more weightlifting type of techniques like the push jerk/split jerk at the lighter weight classes, but yea in the open classes not much. Kearney (although not really anymore) Kordiyaka, O'Dywer, Licis and Ortmayer are some guys that use jerk technique. But it's definitely a small group at the open level.

  • @thorthewolf8801

    @thorthewolf8801

    @@hockeyfreak896890 I largely think the reason is because many of them are ignorant to the effect that a good technique can have. Loz pretty much said it, they get big and compensate their lack of technique with their size and strength. They would definately gain an advantage, its not tied to weightclasses, if shw weightlifters can do it, so could strongman. Anyway, thats rant over.

    Strongman owns the deadlift, but powerlifters still own the squat. It’s just that at the Arnold there were a few good squatters. To see guys get 10 reps on the deadlift with 630lb and on an axle, then struggle with one rep on a wrapped 600lb squat is interesting.

  • @kimaboe

    @kimaboe

    2 жыл бұрын

    It definitely speaks to how rare the squat is in strongman competition. Be it reps or for max, it is basically only seen in the WSM heats. I'm guessing most of these guys have never done a squat in a strongman comp before. And even if they have a good conventional squat, repping out 600 on that giant circus barbell with stops is something very different.
