Clash Of The Titans Tour Mini Documentary
Музыка
The tour began in the fall of 1990 with a three-week European leg featuring Megadeth, Slayer, Testament and Suicidal Tendencies, promoting their then-current albums Rust in Peace, Seasons in the Abyss, Souls of Black and Lights...Camera...Revolution! respectively.
A second leg in 1991 in the United States and Canada had a slightly different lineup: Megadeth, Slayer and Anthrax headlined, and Alice in Chains supported; while Megadeth and Slayer were still promoting their respective albums Rust in Peace and Seasons in the Abyss, Anthrax was supporting their fifth studio album Persistence of Time and Alice in Chains was touring behind their debut album Facelift.
Alice in Chains was not originally on the bill for the U.S. tour. According to the documentary Get Thrashed, Death Angel was to be the supporting act however, after a near-fatal tour bus crash, they were forced to bow out.
Sepultura was also mooted for the tour, but, according to then-frontman Max Cavalera, "got kicked out", and instead embarked on the New Titans on the Block tour with Sacred Reich, Napalm Death and Sick of It All.
Anthrax guitarist Scott Ian stated in an interview with Guitar World that they wanted Pantera as the opening act of the Clash of the Titans tour. Other bands, such as Exodus, Vio-lence, Kreator and Obituary, also reportedly declined to take part in the tour as the opening act.

What an insane lineup. This is probably my dream tour. The early 90's was a crazy time for live music. All the thrash bands had really mastered their sound and abilities, plus grunge was really taking off. What an awesome era.
I saw that tour in Houston 1991. Best concert I've ever been to. And I've been to hundreds of concerts. It was aic, then megadeth, slayer, and Anthrax closed.
I saw them in Lakeland. AIC primed the crowd, Slayer decimated the crowd, Anthrax renenergized the crowd, and we closed strong with Megadeth. This was and is the best line I have ever seen live.
Philly '91 Will never forget this show.. Baracade came down when THRAX went on!
Funny how Alice In Chains had said almost every show the audience would boo them, throw things & swear at them.....less than a year later those same clowns were buying their CD's & lining up to buy tickets for their shows.
I was the show at the Philadelphia Spectrum (RIP) show in June 1991 with my youngest cousin, his 1st concert ever. Wild night at America's Showplace for sure 🤘🙂

@aegisreflector1239 it was an amazing concert. The Spectrum was a mess afterwards, lol. A guy wrote in a comment that the barricades came down when Anthrax came on, and they stopped the show because it got a tad crazy 🤪.
I was at the show in El Paso, Texas, and it was glorious! This is what metal shows used to be! I just saw Iron Maiden this past Sunday, again here in El Paso, and the people on the floor hardly bobbed their heads. What has happened to concert goers? Everyone is too busy recoding on their phones to mosh, or start a pit, or bang their damn heads! It's embarrassing, truly.

That's just sad (about the Iron Maiden gig). That said, their last release was kind of weak to be honest.
I wish I could've seen Tendencies when the tour came to NYC, but Alice in Chains didn't disappoint.
I was at the Philly show at the Spectrum. June 29th 1991, hard to believe it was already over 31 years ago. I remember that show well, Slayer, Megadeth, Anthrax and AIC was the order on that date. Back when the whole ticket price was less than the ticket fees from todays shows.
seen this show in Phoenix at the Mad house on Mcdowell! and the order was the right one in my opinion...aic, anthrax, Megadeth, and then when Slayer came out to close it...ALL HELL BROKE LOOSE! one of the best shows i ever went to.
So sad I missed this tour . One of the best tour lineup ever . Miss you Nick 🤘👽🤘
Who ever is behind the channel keep the content coming. This is better then day time TV
I saw the show in Lakeland and it was freaking insane. Slayer played second and the barricade by the stage kept breaking and falling over. In their live album that they released in the early 90s, CD1 what's the Lakeland show and you can hear Tom Talk about being careful and stuff that's because of the barricade.
I was missing this documentary, it's fantastic and thanks for sharing it with us. everything about "Nick" is Pure Gold to me!
Went to the Clash of the Titans tour in Noblesville IN (Deer Creek Music Center) 91 Best concert I’ve ever been to in my life🤘
The good ol days :)
Great documentary!!!That was the best show I ever saw or will see.It was an amazing time in life.So glad I experienced it.
AIC kicks ass all over the others!
Birmingham NEC Is where I saw them.. best gig I’ve ever been to
I saw the European leg with Suicidal in Mainz, Germany in October 1990. Great great show with Slayer headlining!!!!
I heard Death Angel or Exodus was supposed to be on the U.S. version of this tour but Death Angel was involved in a bus crash and Exodus for some reason said no, so in the end we got Alice In Chains instead.

3/4 of the Big 4... Epic for 1990!
Saw this tour at NYCs MSG with AiC opening, I really wanted to see them. Show was awesome, crowd was absolutely nuts. People throwing fireworks inside an enclosed arena. Crowd got completely out of control with Slayer, who walked off stage after warning us and the did on their third song. That sucked. Still remember this.
June 8, 1991. Cedar Rapids, IA Clash of the Titans show. I'll never forget this. I was 15 and backstage with my little brother. There with us, was a disabled guy in a wheelchair, that we didn't know, but it was all cool because the guy was awesome to talk to. But anyway, a security dude knocks on Megadeths door, Dave Mustaine answers, and the dude starts pouring his heart out about how Megadeth was his favorite band and Mustaine looks at the dude in his wheelchair, and says in the biggest a$$hole voice "if Megadeth is your favorite band, then why the fu©k are you wearing a Suicidal Tendencies t-shirt"! And the look on the dudes face I will NEVER forget. All kinds of words came out of my mouth and the only ones I can remember are "scum puddle" and "eyelid kid". Dave is a P.OS.
It was A great show.seen it twice
Was at the Hampton, VA 7/1/91 show
Saw both NorCal stops in San Francisco and Sacramento. AIC held there own on both, Slayer was next and decimated the Cow Palace. Those red lights and opening with Hell Awaits made you feel like what hell could be. Slam pits were everywhere on that floor!! Anthrax was 2nd and delivered a great set. Megadeth closed and did a killer job as well. To me Slayer was the best out of all.
I saw this show in Dallas.\m/
I was at the Trout Air MN tour - Anthrax, Megadeth, Slayer, & and an unknown band by the name of Alice In Chains opened because Testament had something happen. It was 95 degrees, humid as hell, and we were all tripping on acid... what a blast of a day. R.I.P. Jeff, Mike, and Layne.

Saw the Detroit show , SLAYER, SLAYER , SLAYER .. Through the entire AIC set.
Saw this show at Trout Air in Minnesota, it rained for Alice in Chains and than it got hot as hell. What sucked is it was an outside concert so it got humid as hell but it was a good show.
Anthrax seems the best people to hang with!!!! Doing they thing , play their music, not envy at the other bands.

4 bands for twenty bucks!?!?!?
@j.c1574

That was a lot in that time
When this show came to San Diego it included Judas Priest as the last band on the bill. My old band had been booked to open for Megadeath in TJ Mexico at Iguna's but then Megadeath took a spot on this bill and had to cancel. I saw megadeath rather then being on the bill with them the same night. Of course I work in a factory today.
European tour was better with Testament and Suicidal
Damn that was awesome, brought back some awesome memories, I was there at the NEC UK 1990, remember it like it was yesterday, they all look so young, damn I'm getting old.. 🤘🤘🤘
$20 seemed like a good deal for all those bands. Wish prices for concerts were still reasonable in 2020's.
I saw it at Baltimore arena
I was at the Baltimore show. It's all a blur now but I remember someone proposed or birthday maybe even got married on stage that night. Whatever happened pretty sure it was someone from Testament.
I was at the Birmingham NEC show and the Manchester Apollo show , fkn awesome . I actually caught one of Dave lombardos sticks ( had to fight to keep it ) I was only 15, I caught hold of one of nicks but couldn't keep a hold of it ,if there is a way for me to buy a pair of nick menza used sticks can someone let me know in the comments please .

TWENTY BUCKS!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
Slayer closed one of the shows I saw and they did not struggle in any way ( well it appeared that way) although I do know Dave lombardo was having back issues at the time and under the advice of Rick Rubin he raised the height of his drum stool and that did affect some of Dave performances regarding his usual double bass playing ( only us drummers out there caught on to that though) .

Thats the order I saw too.Slayer played way over an hour super high energy,I was really impressed w/ Lombardo.Everyone was on that night in all the bands.
Saw this tour at MSG, Slayer closed and walked off stage two sets in because the crowd was so nuts. Tom said "You guys are too crazy for us." People were throwing m80s inside the arena, nuts.

@@creamysauce7966 the mix of the two genre's wasn't majority accepted amoungst the blue collar crowd. There were other earlier collaborations, MJ had Ed VanHalen on Beat It, Aerosmith & RunDMC redo of Walk This Way had similar grumblings. It was on par with the conflict btwn rock & disco. Two very different camps that purists did not think should or could mix. There were rascist elements as well. NYC as well as other big cities were not the Kumbaya singing hot beds of peace and love societal examples. Lots of rascial tensions.

Back in those days it was normal to boo bands that would have an outlying sound to the main acts. Even happened a lot in the early 2000s. Now people love mixed genre line ups
back then, you had massive ego's esp dave mustaines what would it actually mattr who opens {alice in chains apparently because they were "still green" {new} and who closes the show a feud between megadeth and slayer its history, it's in the past the most Importnt thing is the kids had a good time its about entertaining them they are the reason you hve them nice houses, all the drugs and booze access to anything you want but just don't forget about those kids who worked double shifts at mcdonalds just to save and watch you play, DON'T forget where you came from, and who helped you along the way... STAY BRUTAL!!!
Charlie Benanti, Dave Lambardo,Nick Menza. 3 of the best drummers of Metal. Period. Man, they were all so young. B.T.W. Tom, Megadeth sold out many more arenas shortly after... Gotta love Frank Bello. The dude is a powerhouse in his own right. They were so good with John Bush. Damn. Good days to be a metal head! Glad I was. So much great music that came out. Now, we are stuck with cookie monster vocals and tinty leads. No diversity in heavy music anymore. Just the same old play as fast as you can no groove havin garbage.

Lol all these bands in their prime playing at such large venues and for this many dates only for $20 a show?! That's unheard of in 2023! (Especially, with Ticketmaster being the awful organization that they are.)
