    My favorite part of this episode was when Chloe tried to get Pete to tell her about Clark's secret. Compelled to tell the truth, Pete chooses instead to reveal his long held crush on her rather than betray Clark. That's a seriously loyal friend right there.

    Ugh. Chloe was easily the main reason I often had trouble even watching this show back in the day. I hate characters like her(ex. Lois Lane) even without the added truth powers or whatever. They go digging around in the affairs of dangerous people(or even friends) like it's some kind of game, with zero regard for consequences. Worse, the whole time she's asking all these questions, she's the one hiding the secret that she's using some sort of ability that compels them to speak even if they don't want to.

    i love all the morons turning on chloe here, she looks like she's abusing her powers here but thats because thats what the script is saying, script writers/directors ALWAYS have an ulterior motive and make the story biased towards one side eg the video game fallout4, EVERYONE has no issue killing things but suddenly a scene where a deathclaw (a dangerous monster) has a egg and you have a option to kill or not to kill the monster (despite human remains in its nest i.e its not innocent) everyones suddenly a saint and chooses the non lethal option. Here is the same, chloe isn't bad she believes in "the truth" thats why she wanted to be a journalist, but the writers tried to say everyone deserves to have their secrets.

  • @jerodast

    @jerodast

    3 жыл бұрын

    Most of the personal stuff early on she didn't actually know what her powers were yet or what kind of stuff would come out. Irresponsible but not horrific. (I maintain the football player outing is kind of adorable haha.) But the episode does make you wonder if there was some psychological effect of the power where her natural investigative nature was cranked up to 200%, because she's pretty aggressive. I don't think she's irredeemable if it really was all her, and she just was high on power without taking the time to think of the consequences and assess her own ethics. But of course Smallville doesn't always take the opportunity to explore that kind of thing.
