Hello Michelle,. First thank your for your videos they are always helpfull and motivating. I have been playing for about 3 years and as an eternal beguinner i am searching to improve my tone or my sound. i seem to bite too much or pinch the embouchure too much of fear of high notes and the dramatic passage of A or Bflat to B . Going up the scale the passage of the the registers at B is really something my fingers have problems with. Nevertheless here are my questions :1/assuming i use the high G notes to C to find the proper lenght my mouth"bites" the bec, should that mouth position be the same on all notes of the instrument ? Or is it natural it moves a bit ? 2/ i seem to find a better tone blowing a high G to very high E then blowing a middle D , E and F . It seems the air speed has to be forcefull on those notes or they come out ( i don't know how to describe really) a bit less clear i guess. Could it be an air speed problem ? 3/ am i correct to assume, i blow fresh air as to cool a hot meal when in the middle and upper register and more of hot air as to clean some lenses when in the chalumeau register ?4/ when i start a high note as very high E or F i manage to make it sound but if i practice an arpeggio scale for example, they rarely come out. I suppose i lack air speed then but i am already "speeding" all i can in the upper G to C register.Any idea what i might be doing wrong or not doing ?.the clarinet is really a hard instrument. It is so easy to make a poor sound when not a squeak. Although i like it, i find it so frustrating.

+MichRom I use those high notes G-C as "tester notes", because they are more reactive. It is easy to discover if you are doing anything wrong. For most notes on the clarinet, I imagine keeping the air and tongue position virtually the same - which is a high tongue, and very fast air. When people are at a more advanced level, there are slight adjustments to be made, but for most people, thinking of keeping everything the same actually gets better results. If you have some notes on your right hand that feel more resistant than the higher notes, likely something is leaking air. Although this could be one of your fingers, it could be mechanical. Hello Michelle, this is really helpful. I've stopped to play clarinet during 10 years because of my job, and I quite don't know how to practise again : I've lost the basic notions of tone, posture, and so on. It's very difficult to recover my clarinet level. At this moment, I just play the scales, because am not self confident to play pieces anymore. If you have any advice to help me recover my former level, let me know. And thank you for your videos !

+Marie-Aude Grimont You will be amazed at how quickly your skills can come back. You may want to start with some simple music that can allow you to focus on tone and posture. I think the key is to do some simple warm-ups that have you focusing only on one important habit at a time (air support, or embouchure, or posture, or tonguing). Do one thing in a very focussed way for about 5 minutes, and then switch to a different focus. After a couple of these, you can switch to any music you want to play. The goal is to train the good physical habits into your body so that if feels easier to play.

+Leslie Harris It is pretty common for saliva to collect under the reed. The simple solution is to "vacuum" by inhaling through the reed. It clears it out, and you can combine this with a breath if you in the middle of a song. Some days seem worse than other - I'm not sure why, but it is fairly easy to deal with once you are used to it. I hope you are enjoying your clarinet!
