It's funny how an empty chair can do that. Walking into my parents house after my dad passed and seeing his empty chair in the living room makes it hit you really hard. 😥😥😥

I loved Clara's little giggle. I love that she enjoyed most every moment of her life. I tend to have an on elderly female in my life. I think it is because I never knew my grandma's. They died young. Now, at 77, I have lost my older friends. I am so glad Clara passed peacefully. She left many good memories for others, and a wealth of good information. I just watched the Italian ice video, and I feel I have known her forever. You are so lucky to have been in her life.

I just found her today. 4/25/20. That's an awesome amazing legacy to leave behind tho, if you think about it. To still be teaching after you've already left this plane years previous. And to know she had to go thru the great depression, saddens me. I started looking around for vids to help stretch, and "make something from nothing" meals (as my aunt's used to call them. And wound up coming across this absolute angelic gem of a soul. I know he's amazed at how may new fans this pandemic has made fr hs Nana. I'm in a sense, glad she didn't have to experience it.

I periodically come to watch Clara's videos. I just realized today that Clara and my mom shared the same bithday just different years. I lost my mom a year and a half ago. I have all my momma's stories in my heart on how she survived ww2 in France as a small child. I learned so .much from my momma and how important it is abd was to keep a well stocked pantry you can pull from so you didn’t starve to death when food wasn't available to buy like i saw during covid. I saw entire grocery stores wiped out just before the lockdowns. And months after, it was hard to get certain things. And look at now, food prices are really high, rice will be on short supply, etc. Having a garden to supplement you groceries helps. You can freeze your surplus or learn to can it up for later use. Ms. Clara shows us how we can cook simply to survive. She also confirms what my momma told me on how important having a garden is.

I watched Clara tonight for the first time. She made lentils, rice, steak, and a simple salad. I'm thinking about what Clara & her family went through during the depression, and thinking about what our Covid-19 world is going through now with sickness, hunger & food lines. I'm crying like a baby because there are so many parallels and so much uncertainty. But Clara brings me hope & comfort tight now. Her family was incredibly fortunate to have known & loved her. So Clara, long may you run on the other side. Thank you for cooking for us. Your memory lives on.

Mainly because my grandmother is 85 and so dear to me I cannot imagine staying this far from her in her last years however many there may be. I really hope to hear and maybe even record some of her stories and recipes, sewing tips; all the things she taught me when I was a kid and she was the most energetic "older" person I have ever know. World War 2, the Holocaust, Great Depression, and so many other instances her generation had faced as children and young adults. There are many, many of them with the most amazing stories and wisdom that humble you and fill you with gratitude and awe. But they have been passing on in recent years and soon we will no longer enjoy their company and all of the wonderful things they have to share, like dear Clara... so that's why we have to protect them and when all this is over, make sure to spend a lot of time with them. It's what I've been doing from age 13 to now (35)... from all walks of life and cultures. I have a group of 11 surrogate "grandparents" of that generation that I meet with every other week. When the covid-19 outbreak hit USA they urged me to keep coming to Bible study. I insisted that I stay away until it all dissipates because they're my precious friends and I don't want to risk their health, especially since our leader/teacher has an aggressive cancer. Treasure this generation. They truly are the Greatest ❤️

I watched a couple dozen of her videos before I saw she had passed several years before I watched this one. I felt like I had lost MY grandmother. Thank you for sharing her with me.

You’re a grandson wise beyond your years to understand the value of the wisdom of our elderly. They literally hold the history of our country in their experiences. The pain on your face and in your eyes is evidence of the love and respect you have for her. I know it’s been several years by now but I’m very sorry for your loss and hope that her memory brings you smiles and peace.

Yeah, but he's still allowed to be sad and mourn. She is no longer in his life and he will not see her again until he dies. That is sad. Losing someone is sad. Don't ever tell someone not to be sad over a death.

Steve Beane like you I just discovered Nana! I was looking for a Baked Apple Recepie and I Can across her. She made me laugh when she said she did not have the proper tool to core the Apple. But she did it. I tried it and they turned out great. Sad to hear that she passed 6 years ago. What a lovely lady. God bless her and her family. 🙏🙏

So glad you documented her stories and recipes. I ordered her cookbook. We are going to need her wisdom more than ever in the direction we are going. We are about to enter into the 2nd depression. In a way it's a blessing, she won't have to go through it again.
