This is a part of a sort of trilogy of Taylor's songs regarding the fickleness of female fame: The Lucky One, Nothing New, Clara Bow. Such a beautiful song.

I love how dark and somber this one sounds, the beat of her poetic lyrics matching with the rhythm of the song is so pleasing. The strings taking over the guitar on the second verse is such a great touch. Thanks for the react and quick guitar demo! 😁✌️

Please don’t come for me bc I’m not trying to get in a fight out here in these KZread streets 😂 - but it always cracks me up how people (usually guy musicians) who review her music somehow simultaneously give her credit but then say things like, “man, whoever did that chord progression or whoever did that riff, or whoever thought to use that synth really made amped this whole song up!” insinuating that’s why the song is clever or good. Well… She did that? It was her. She wrote and produced the song alone with Aaron Dessner. Like - the “whoever” was her. Collaboration but also… bruh it was her

He misses a lot of points in everything he reacts to lyrically, i hope it's so that it makes people comment lol. But I think he just doesn't think very deeply and doesn't really care about lyrics at all, he just thinks they are interesting, cool or weird. I like his thoughts on production though.

This is my favorite song by far from TTPD. Absolutely gorgeous arrangement, powerful and emotional lyrics, and just an overall beautiful composition. Over the years I have seen many memes people have created comparing Taylor to Stevie Nicks, saying Stevie is so much more mature/dark/deep/edgy than Taylor. I have commented on them saying well actually, Stevie and Taylor are friends and fans of one another. I LOVE that Stevie wrote a poem for Taylor that is included in the packaging/liner notes of this album. Stevie has previously publicly thanked Taylor for her song “You’re On Your Own Kid” from Midnights. She said it helped her through the grieving process when her best friend and Fleetwood Mac bandmate Christine McVie died. This song perfectly depicts and illustrates how society pits women against each other by comparing them, saying one’s “better” than the other, etc. I just love Taylor so much and how she can make the listener feel and emote. Brilliant song, brilliant album, brilliant artist. She is definitely dazzling! Love your review! 🥰❤️🎶⭐️

My favorite song on TTPD hands down. The simple electric guitar in the background hooked me immediately and the lyrics took me on a whole journey regarding historical “it” girls and the fickleness of fame and how there’s always a new, younger, edgier it girl who will take over at some point. The comparisons and backhanded compliments never end for us women. “Beauty is a beast that roars, down on all fours, demanding more” … when I tell you I gasped at that line, sheesh.

He mostly pays attention and explains the production. He also did mention Stevie nicks in his explanation at the end. If you want a whole lyric breakdown there’s tons of other channels that do that, this is primarily focused on production with little bits of lyrics mixed in
