When it comes to serious issues like this we really have some off the worst presenters.i think the worst ever on radio was miriam with simon covney over brexit and the border and in fairness he had his boxes ticked which she didnt like and turned into car crash radio interrupting.its like they take it as an insult if they dont win the argument.little hitlers.

I like Brolly, Ima borderland Donegal & therefore rural Ulster catholic just like he is so we have a lot in common historically, politically & culturally but "Irish Republicanism" in the north if it has a problematic characteristic, is that it is just as insular if not more so than any other insular part of Ireland. He is a result if not a proponent of the "Our Wee Country" philosophy that prevails in Loyalist Ulster. Brolly was criticising "Short Termism" in the thinking of others while not being able to see past the nose on his own face. She was right to shut him down, but culturally it was & is a bit cringe & shameful if you, like me, dont sit down to take a pee. Ta ar la anseo anois. 🇮🇪

I find it ironic that in a discussion about how Ireland can be more inclusive of all opinions on this island, the presenter feels the need to deny a guest an opportunity to voice their opinions. Here’s hoping that when we do achieve this “new Ireland “ that RTE in its present form won’t be part of it.

Joe Brolly was merely highlighting the truth about "Curry my yoghurt" Campbell and the dup goons.Byrne came across as petulant and unprofessional.

This really finished Claire's Neutrality in Journalism, she would have no problem with someone attacking Sinn Féin.

RTE are scared out of their wits about someone being called a homophobe on one of their shows after John Watters was slandered on the Brendan o Connor show by Rory o Neill that time. The difference is with John Watters it was slander with Gregory Campbell it is based upon what he has said many times. Can someone run this past me.. On a UK passport it says "The United Kingdom of Great Britain & Northern Ireland. Great Britain is England, Scotland and Wales. Northern Ireland is just part of the United Kingdom. So in effect they're British subjects but not actually British.

Finally someone on the same page as me, they arent British as N.I isn't in Britain, that being said their ancestors were British, the majority from Scotland, the planters in the 1600's plantation were mostly Scottish and some English, Ludacris Ulster-Scots lol

I greatly admire Joe and his comments are valid but Claire was right. Some of the commentary here smacks of echo modern echo cheers and is akin to fox news. The man, bigot though he is, was not there to defend himself and Joe being a barrister should know better
