Gryphon I have the exact same problem. The only time the citizens actually did something about being unhappy (Amenities, of course) was my wars against Gandhi. I had 3 rebellion uprisings within 4 turns. Every other war was just spamming me with the Amenities problem in my cities, but that was it.

Yes, the way warmongering penalties are done in this game are astonishingly stupid. In one game I declared only one war. I believe it was in the classical era. And I took only one city. For the rest of the game all of the civilizations were denouncing me as a warmonger every couple of turns because, I had another Civs city. 1) Over a couple of generations the population of that city would become my population and that resentment would fade. 2) No civilization can maintain hatred for any other over thousands of years. 3) Warmonger penalty, realistically, is mitigated if other civilizations have a benefit by benefiting from your; trade, support etc. This games diplomatic balance on this issue is completely out of whack.

War weariness needs another look at. In its current state, it is crippling. Even if you win defensive wars, it can set you back a long way. As it stands, war weariness is not specific enough and damages innocent playstyles and nations.

This is an interesting topic, when they prep for war they usually send in whatever is closest to you and start to pillage some things, suicide whatever army they have and declare for peace. But if you have a civilization from another continent declaring war on you it gets even more ridicules. Worst thing they do is using their exploration boats to pillage your improvements at sea....

The warmongering system is extremly annoying in single player games. I might want to go to war with a warmongering civ and then transition into a my win condition wich is not domination. But the warmongering takes way to long to get rid of, so i have to listen to each civ bitch over how much they dislike me. Friends and allies aswell. Relationships does not seem to count for anything in your game. You need to fix how your friends and allies treats you. And warmongering penalty should have a stacking reduction for each XX turn you have been at peace.

What bothers me about the game is the agendas are all wrong, the AI doesn't like you if you're doing badly but if you're doing great and are about to win they want to be your friend, instead of trying to beat you. It's backwards, it should be the other way round, if I'm a threat to any victory condition I want the AI to try and stop me! Russia don't like me because I have no culture? - If they are going for a tourism victory they should be happy about that!? Civ's should be more willing to trade with you if you're no threat and vice versa but the opposite is what actually happens. I'm about to win the game, don't give me all your money for a lux I don't need, come at me bro!

I made the mistake of making a really really long, droned out war, lasting over 300 turns. Me vs the world. Think of f it as my last stand. As i watched my cities fall one by one, and realized that i was going to lose, i made a last ditch attempt to salvage my once great empire. I sent my units back to my mainland, abandoning my cities on the other continent, and made a defensive line. It worked for around 50 turns, but was eventually overrun.😢

I feel the warmongering penalty should be lessened if you take a city from a civilization that declared war on you. If I take a city that was only placed there to basically have a beach head near my capital I shouldn't be seen as such a bad guy for taking it and lessening the chances for a second war.

Here, have 25 of my gold as well as a sign of friendship =)" Same Civ-"Fuck you bitch, THIS MEANS WAR" Me-"what? O.. Ok I guess" Everyone else-"This fucking disgusting warmongering shit, lets declare war on him too. That'll show him." Nothing like real life then. The United States has been at war with one or more countries for the past 222 years and they don't suffer from war weariness at all. Every victory brings greater support. It's only when you start to lose that things become a problem. Perhaps that should be worked into the game.

Looks like you're not living in real life then. War weariness affects the US more than any other nation. Why do you think Obama won? One of his major promises was to withdraw from Iraq. Why do you think most of US military activities are focused on supporting the local troops and militia rather than sending their own troops into open battle? maybe if it depended on your culture or faith, or even on the civilization you choose, like how domination-geared civilizations would not suffer from war-weariness while faith or diplomatic geared civilizations would suffer more from it, and science or cultural geared civs would either suffer from it to a lesser extent or when they are losing troops and cities.

I'm on my first game ever for civ 6. Got it on discount for 14.99 on xbox and it came with a bunch of dlcs. Pretty fun.

if you are gonna prepare for war properly then make sure you have God of War Pantheon. that way you get Faith for units you kill nearby your Holy Sites. or a good alternate is to have Goddess of Healing then place an Apostle with a Chaplain promotion making it a religious medic and/or a Medic support unit in the Holy Site. your units will heal instantly. (+15 in own territory +30 from GoH +10 from Chaplain Apostle +10 from Medic unit)

What the title really means is..."How to Play Civilization VI" One thing i have learned is that in civ VI it is IMPOSSIBLE to be friends with more than about six people. Lol it’s so easy that I won after being targeted by 3 civs that were leagues ahead of me in science and territory. I just created a choke point full of archers and sword men, and then eventually those archers were replaced by crossbow men. They just kept killing themselves in my units and eventually gave up

I started my first game of civilization 6 and civilization in general and had all but one friendly then I went to war with Toronto and became public enemy #1 😄

Its a broken system.

The tribuchet is only +2 range hope it is like +3 so the enemy cities will go out to defend it like the real ancient war and the melee hope it adds +3 movement when embarck in waters it just like in real life when you ride something its faster than walking coz it took a lot of turns when you go for a war in far cities

The diplomacy system in civ 6 is actually better than the previous civs. Usually when I play the game I get 2 to 3 friends out of the 12 civs you get as default from a huge map and everyone else of course hates me for reasons of not meeting their agendas or not having the same gov't which is basically almost the same as the real life anyways, you don't get to be friends with everyone even if you are peaceful and do nothing to them. BUT they never declare war on me, and I think the reason behind that is because I always make sure that I have a strong military and I never leave it behind even when my focus on the game is towards cultural victory or science victory. So basically strong military = no bullies. let the civs denounce you, you still get to be able to send trade routes to them anyways, And you don't really have to be all that friendly to them too, 3 to 4 friends should be okay to survive.

I was attacked by 2 other Civilization. I beat the shit out of them, but not using nuclear warheads and only defensive operation. Basically I moved modern armors at the border and eliminated others civs troops with jet bombers. No counter invasion or anything, no pillaging. After 4 turns, other civs not involved denounce me as a warmonger. -_- It's funny how Alexander Macedon request is to have a powerfull air force. We all remember the persian wars when he use the F-22 and F-35 to cover his phalanks.

The war monger penalty needs to get reduced a significant amount at least every era. France and Britain used to go to war all the time but in WW 1 and 2 they fought together. Countries can get over the past.

Just play Alexander of Macedon, then war weariness isn't a problem anymore, and it doesn't matter if everyone sees you as a warmonger. Your neighbors won't see you as a warmonger if you have no neighbors.

Well that's a BIG FAT NOOOOPEE! Fission happens when large atoms like Uranium split, Fusion happens when 2 Hydrogen atoms FUSE to make Helium Thermonuclear bombs or hydrogen bombs work by BOTH Fusion and Fission, a smaller Uranium charge detonates and creates the necesary heat for the Fusion then the fusion happens, creating an explosion far greater than a fission bomb ever can...

Last game I've played as Aztec, and all the way up until the last 12 turns Norway had a lead in overall win. Then I fired 4 nukes and 4 thermo nuclear bombs, wiped their empire and got the win. I guess that's fair.

It's not that I mind these "How to" videos within the context of perhaps reaching out to players who've never tried a Civ title, but for anyone who's played Civ VI there are some obvious fundamental flaws in practically every aspect of the game (Diplomacy, War/Warmongering, AI Behavior, Religion/Spamming, etc.). Civ V took hold of me and never let go BEFORE its two expansions (Gods and Kings and Brave New World) came out, to the tune of 1,000-plus hours played. While I like some of the innovations it offers, so far Civ VI has had a distinctly Civ: Beyond Earth flavor; just not good enough to keep me coming back. I guess what I mean to say in a nutshell is that I'd much rather have seen a preview of upcoming patches, DLC and/or an expansion to help somehow revitalize my interest in what has sadly been a hugely disappointing game thus far. By this point most folks who are viewing these videos have likely already purchased and played Civ VI and need that far more than another instructional video.

You dont have to prep for anything believe me. The ai will declera war to you even if they have one warior. And they will have one warior in space age coz they dont know how to upgrade units

After thermonuclear war... you should go back to fighting with clubs and bows.

The War Weariness system makes no sense, I understand and approve of the concept of it but it just doesn't work in a logical way at the moment. I once had a war with Arabia and were sieging one of my cities, after I lifted the siege a city on the other side of my empire that was in no way involved in the war at all got ridiculously war weary. Why of all my cities would that city get upset, I would understand if it was one close to the front but this was just weird and immersion breaking.

Warmongering and Casus Bellis could also use an expansion/overhaul. There are many Casus Bellis missing like declaring a Raid, there isn't even a Casus Belli to join your declared Allies! Also why can I ask and declare a Joint War with everyone but my declared friends and allies? Shouldn't that be one of the main reasons and benefits of making an Alliance in the first place. The Warmongerer penalties should also be more dynamic, people should care less about wars on people they hate as well and more for declaring war on their friends. Also really lower the warmongering for taking cities, currently the entire world will denounce you for taking a city even if you give it back later in the peace-deal. Make the warmongering for taking cities apply for only 20% during the war and add the remaining 80% if you keep the city once the war is over. That way you can kick Kongo's dirty backstabbing butt (who also didn't want to peace out earlier) and still keep most of your friends if you give the city back once all is over.

My domination strategy. Play as Gilgamesh and produce only war carts on a pangea smallest size map against someone with no bonuses in the ancient era.

makes no sense for happiness to be affected for norway they were a warrior civ

If you are winning your people shouldn't rebel at ALL it's bullshit! Did the western allied citizens EVER rebelled against the war effort? Of course not especially when victory was in their sight!

i usually get to war in -500 and then i keep that war for 2000 or more until i won and i only use atomic device to clear rebellions but they don't really understand the lesson...

why not add military organizations like a to some generals your manage to build your military. combine your units to build divisions or make brigades to the divisions or merge some submarine to the divisions. I think it's a good idea and makes games better in strategy and development like (total war)

Hello, new to Civ. VI. Why can't I get a horseman? Got "Animal Husbandry" and "Horseback riding" but the horseman is darkened out. Oh failed to mention, I've got a horse tile and it's been pasteurized. :-) Everybody and their brother has horsemen, even Barbarians! Please help, this is not my only problem but it's an important one. I suppose my biggest problems lie within the Civipedia and the manual. They're both extremely lacking in detailed information.

The Old Gringo I believe you need 2 horses unless the city you are trying to produce them in has an encampment Also if you are playing on a speed faster than standard or even on standard with a lot of science don't bother with horses by the time you have cavalry built up you'll have nuclear weapons researched

Ine time enemy AI just declare surprise war on me. I beat the shit out of them capture one city then the rest of the world just denouce me. great mechanic 10/10.

Enemies capital's is really close to my border as each time i had to conquer the original city(Which i cannot raze due to its original city) just so many times for me in order to take down another of their city 💀💀

I declared war on Persia, and the every other city state, Australia, Poland, and England all declared war on Persia. Persia is about feel what Paraguay felt in the War of the Triple Alliance.

Ghandi once asked me for a joint war, then turned around and denounced me for warmongering.

It would be nice to know -when- I can denounce a civ - or at least counter-denounce when they do it to me. I haven't denounced a civ once 'cause they keep beating me to it...

F U C K. Yes this happened to me. I'm trying to spice things up and make an alliance with Persia by doing a surprise war and he hates it. Then I have another war where my ally is Japan and he nearly loses his territories if it wasn't for me.

There was one game I had where Brazil just didn’t like me and went to war with me. I captured two cities and they hated me for the rest of the game
