    Can you do more East Asian Factions like Tibet, Mongolia, Ryuku, Khitan, or Korea? Not seeing a lot of love for East Asia. Or better yet a Civilization of Siberia. Now that would be interesting since most people barely know what's in Siberia.

    Sid Meier's Civilization Yo...CIV. Ok 2 things.. FIRST, Ive been playing civ for years, from civ 3 all the way to now, and civ 6.... Wow omg what are you people doing ?! Its like some people (who should fired) said "hey, how about we take out all the things about the civ 5s realistic design and leader movements.. And for civ 6, we go back to the civ 4 design of cartoons ... cuz Ya know , kids wont play if it looks too real "....civ 6 makes you feel like a kid , in a bad way. AND WE ALL KNOW IM RIGHT. ( if you have civ 5, look at the fish and wales. Now look at the wales in civ 6 ) TRASH!!! Why do i feel like im playing a civ app ? GET THE CIV 5 DESIGN TEAM BACK NOW !! SECOND , you civ people always have the balls to make America a civ. now you have Astralia, but evey game , no Canada! Wtf ?! Do you hate Canada? Like you have all the biggest civs in land mass. Russia, China, brazil , India, the US ... But you cut out Canada. (Tbh i think you do it so the U.S has space to expand in the real earth map ) Lol oh but you need 2 Greeses.. And whatever the fuck scythia is.... JUST ADD CANADA, AND MORE AFRICAN CIVS... AND IF YOU ARE GOING TO DO 2 LEADERS PER CIV, HAVE ONE THAT WAS MORE EVIL, AND ONE THAT WAS MORE GOOD. THAT WOULD ADD TO THE GAME. But other than all that ^ the new things in the civ 6 game play is better than civ 5. just make civ 6 look like civ 5, You dont need a buch of movement and colour to keep my attention , im not 10 years old....

    Literally what I did. I conquered a city-state under Russian suzerainty and renamed it “Alexandria” as my first conquered city, then me and Japan partitioned Russia, I renamed its capital from Saint Petersburg to Alexandria Rosia (Russia in Greek), then I got in a war with Japan to conquer Vilnius, I conquered it but it revolted and joined Japan instead so I just renamed one of the conquered Japanese cities beside Vilnius as “Alexandria Vilnius” to temporarily justify it as being the legitimate Vilnius. I then got in a second war with Japan and conquered all its cities, and renamed its capital from Kyoto to “Alexandria Iaponia” (Greek name for Japan), the rest is history with Malaysia (was using a mod, Alexandria Malaisia. Also their first city I conquered was on another landmass so I renamed it “Alexandria in Novopangaea”) and Kongo (Alexandria Konko) *sigh* I wish I could’ve finished that game properly, it was kinda funny and fun reenacting Alexander’s big ego throughout the world 😂

    Well... Greece calls itself Hellas. What were known as the Grecians were essentially the people of Macedon, Athens, the islands etc. The Cretans were as different to the Athenians (what we like to call the Greek people in Civ games apparently), as the Macedonians to the Athenians, so yes, technically they are different people, yet they are all a part of what is now called Greece (even though it should be called Hellas in english, but okay).

    Basileus Rhomaion Though they spoke greek, their art is similar to that of the greeks, Byzantium (the city) was founded by greeks, etc. They kept themselves as a separate entity to the Western Roman Empire even before the fall of the latter, and much later agter that. They might have considered themselves as romans, but their culture is more hellenic than roman.

  • @rhomaioscomrade

    @rhomaioscomrade

    For starters, "Byzantium" isn't even a thing other than the ancient city that came to be Constantinople. The state was called Basileia Rhomaion (Imperium Romanorum) and people of the time (except the West) knew them as Romans/Rum/Romioi/Rumi etc. They did speak Greek, but the eastern part had spoken Greek before the Romans even conquered it. Latin was never used as a lingua franca of the Roman empire because most people in the populous regions would speak Koine Greek. The Eastern Roman part didn't view itself as separate from the West, the split happened for administrative reasons and this is why after the fall of the Western part, Justinian tried to restore former territories, including Rome. Their culture was much closer to ancient Rome than you think, but changes always happen. What did you expect, the Byzantines lasted almost 1000 years, any state would change in that time span. As for my previous comment, the Byzatines are "hellenized" of sorts, but not Hellenistic. Hellenistic is a very specific historiographical term for several centuries after Alexander's death.

  • @guilherme77088

    @guilherme77088

    Might I also add that for most of the Empire's history Latin was the Administrative and Court Language and thus meant that the High classes of the Empire would commonly speak and write in Latin, infact even the Patriarch of Constantinople spoke Latin. Also "Byzantine Empire" "Byzantines"etc.. are historigraphical terms applied to the empire after it was coined a century after it's fall by German historian Hieronymus Wolf. The Empire by it's citizens and likely anyone not Catholic, as could be discerned from the Establishment of the Sultanate of "Rûm"(Sultanate of Rome)' and the adoption of "Kayser i-Rum"(Caesar of Rome) by Ottoman Sultans, as The Roman Empire and not anything besides that

    No, the court/administrative language of the Byzantine Empire was Koine Greek from Heraclius' reign (610 - 641, I think) right up until 1453. The liturgical language was also Koine Greek, although I don't know if it always was.

  • @tasosk790

    @tasosk790

    3 жыл бұрын

    @Phalanx the medieval Greeks abandoned only the term "Greek" cause that term back then was synonym with infidel/pagan... they were using the term eastern roman empire cause in medieval europe, there was the belief that the ancient roman empire, was the true empire destined to rule Europe ( and that's why the Austrians were calling their empire also, holy roman empire, hell even Napoleon saw himself as roman emperor), and therefore whoever is the continuation of the roman empire, is the true ruler of europe, despite the fact that roman empire fell apart and died in the 5th century C.E..... As for the customs, the language. the traditions, they all continued just like how the used to be from ancient Greece... the byzantines were fully aware of their ancient Greek origins, in his famous lasts speech, the last Byzantine emperor, Constantine paleologos, was referring his people as "children of the Greeks and the Romans"

  • @tasosk790

    @tasosk790

    3 жыл бұрын

    @Phalanx for the antique faith part, well almost every single one of the pagan religions perished when Christianity and Islam appeared, the greeks and romans abandoned the Olympians, the Egyptians abandoned their pantheon, the Vikings abandoned Odin and the whole norse pantheon e.t.c.... for the language and the traditions, culture part, again I'm telling you that they endured the Christian transformation of the Greek tribes, the Byzantine empire adopted the koine Greek, that the inhabitants of Greece and Anatolia were speaking, the same koine Greek that Alexander the great spread all around the world, the alphabet, the expressions, some words (sky, earth, fear, love e.t.c) are exactly the same in modern/ medieval Greek as they were in classical Greek.... the ancient Greeks used to make special cookies called "macaron" and used them as offerings in funerals... medieval and modern Greeks, took that custom. and moved it in Christmas, there is a tradition Greek Christmas cookie called "mello-macaron-o" which is the exact same recipe +honey..... Ancient Greeks used to put coins in the eyes of dead bodies before they bury them, so that the dead person can.use these coins to pay the ferry man (Charon) and cross the underworld, medieval amd modern Greeks, still use this tradition, they put coins in dead bodies, so that they can "pay saint Peter, to open heavens gates" Ancient Greeks used to bake special pies, called "placinta cakes" Medieval Greeks took that recipe and created different versions which Greeks still eat to this day "tiropita" (cheesepie), "spanakopita" (spinachpie) e.t.c As you see the traditions and culture didn't change drastically during the Byzantine period, of course there was a huge impact from the neighbouring Persians and Arabs but in general, it remained the same..... for poetry, since the language was evolving, the same goes for poetry, different type of poems were written, but still everything was in medieval Greek... The musical instruments were also evolving during the pass of time, although some survive almost intact to our days, the ancient greek lyre for example, evolved into the byzantine lyre, who is the father of the modern Cretan lyre called "lura".....

    alexander is so fun. the first game i played with my friend after we both bought the game i was alexander on a real-life map and i spawned in india, so i basically did a reverse alexander and conquered in the opposite direction. except i didnt stop in macedonia, i went all the way through to western europe then crossed the atlantic and took north america too. they must have added it after this video was filmed but at world's end also healing all your units when you capture a city is bananas, turns your armies into a steamroller. i had like 2000 years of war and no war weariness, meanwhile all the while the basilikos kept me ahead on science and thats actually how i ended up winning.

    People of civilization 6 team, I am happy that I see again my country in the game, I though after Gorgo and Pericles I wouldn't see Alexander the Great. But I was wrong, and I am happy that I was wrong in this part. Just one thing. For the love of ... God! Change the Macedonia to Greece before some FYROM guy will come and say unhistoric thnigs and other fool things. I am also happy that I see in the comments that players of Civilization know what is correct. For all these years we played Alexander the Great as leader of Greece. Just change the title. Thank you.

    So the DLC pack will be a Pesia vs. Macedon one. I guess it will have a combot scenario with Scythia, Greece(with Gorgo), Persia and Macedon having a go at each other.
