Catherine is deffo one of the greatest leaders, both in Civ and irl. she is Always doing well in every game i played she was in, and in civ 4 she was almost Always the biggest threat if she was in the game. not because she is a backstabber and a clever one at that! It's interesting to see that most of the 'warmonger' leaders seem to really respect you once you defeated them, while it's the seemingly 'friendly' leaders who wailed about their defeats even if they're the ones who instigated the war xD.

RenegadeElite101 actually, it depends. if you're playing on something like continental and archipelago, having a strong navy is essential, but when you play Pangaea (or any land-centric maps), the importance of a navy becomes extinguished since you can just go inland and usually still profit from it

Moctezuma is pretty funny because "kakan" means "the cookie" in Swedish. It makes it sound like he's saying "Bring me the cookie, bring me the cookie!"

I'm not sure if it's common across all games, but if you just let Alexander do his thing, he allies with every city state and takes over half of the map. I like the amount of personality they put into all of these leaders. You often think to yourself that a person like Gandhi would NEVER declare war on you, but for the sake of gameplay they have to make him do it. But he does it in a way with his face looking like he hates what he's doing.

My head cannon is they become prisoners or governors for whoever conquered them which is why they are able to be liberated.

I once did that to Ashurbanipal, kinda. I defeated him and captured all his cities except the smallest one, and then used several great generals to plant citadels on his border and remove small portions of land in his last city until the city only occupied one space. It was pretty funny. The best part is this was after he allied with me to declare war on all the other civs in that round, so in a sense he kinda had it coming lol

Gandhi should have a background similar to Askia, just with a large metropolitan city burning in nuclear fire instead of a medieval castle burning in normal fire. It would be a lot more fitting than a peaceful view of the Indian ocean.

I love how the cutscene for them declaring war gets played immediately before the cutscene of them getting their asses handed to them. It makes it seem like they came up to you talking shit, got punched in the face and started crying.

Nebuchadnezzars voice is so fucking awesome, I always want to be his ally.

I'm german myself so when I played as Austria and My fucking home country declares war on me I was pissed, but France And England were on my side with defensive pacts so it was less of a loss for me. Sadly I'll put it this way:Germany won the battle of the Marne and steamrolled from there on out.

Some of the leaders actually look more awesome in 5. Especially the ones on thrones and horses. The upward camera angles actually made the leaders look "powerful" just like their real-life counterparts. :) I mean, look at this Montezuma 6:08 . You feel afraid just looking at that picture! (Compared to the new one who just looks silly instead of threatening) 6's animation quality is beautiful and I have no problems with the cartoony style, but it desperately lacks in composition such as these. It could've been sooooo much better.

Civ 5's animation style's a lot better to Civ 6's in my opinion. Civ 6 looks silly imo, and I would like to feel intimidated when they declare war..

I never realized this before but the leaders say the same things when they're defeated as when you kill one of their spies. Or at least Germany does.

Yeah, they all do. I don't know why they couldn't of just did the whole "Neutral Yay or Nay" animation or lines for it, but whatever, I love Civ V anyways.
