Civil War Soldier Laid to Rest Over 110 Years After Death
Major Isaac C. Hart enlisted in the Union Army on April 16th, 1861. During the last year and a half of the war, Hart volunteered to serve with the U.S. Colored Troops 2nd Cavalry Regiment, an all-Black unit. A cemetery in Cincinnati, Ohio, found an urn containing Hart’s cremated remains. The urn had been unclaimed since his death in 1913. In front of about 17 people, Major Hart was laid to rest among his fellow service members.

This is what we need in America, true patriots ready to give up their lives for the flag, not mentally ill idiots fighting all day.
Their ancestor fought for our civil rights back then and he gave his life for us to be here to this day. I'm glad that his descendants can give their ancestor a proper burial and he can now rest in peace. I thank him for being a hero of giving us rights.

The thing people tend to forget when being so far distanced from a particular person in the past is that these people had personalities, it’s hard to see them as anything more then a dead person, but when you really start investigating their life stories you really start to feel for them more.

More than the fact that he fought in some war, what moved me was the fact that he fought against the system and didn't care about punishments for those leading black troops. He was brave and had a heart of gold.

It’s awful what happened to some of our veterans remains. My cousin, a veteran himself, took over as the care taker of cemetery, found an entire shed full of veteran makers that where never placed. He also found remains in urns that hadn’t been claimed in 80 years. He got the remains buried and the markers on the veterans graves.

Right?! I was thinking that too. So his family abandoned his remains back then. But now the family is collecting the remains. Unless his family at the time didn't know he was left there. But sounds kinda odd. And if his family did know back then & just abandoned him. Because of the controversy around his service. And then now that it's acceptable... his family NOW has honored him & collected his remains. Almost like they just go with what's popular opinions at the times... in some ways.
He serve the country, he deserve to be rested.
Such an honor
Many thanks for his service. 🇺🇸

Robert E Lee probably wouldn’t be happy either but more embarrassed. He accepted defeat far more graciously than people who didn’t fight in the war then or now. Then the daughters of the south got their pearls clutching trying to whitewash history and of course the majority down south co-signed the whitewashing alongside many of their descendants of today.
