16:48 you sound like me describing the experience of seeing "Heat" in the theater the first time. The AR-15 gunfire was terrifying! Saw it at lincoln center (not imax just normal back than) I was blown away. Can't wait for "Civil War" at least filmmakers like Garland are proving you don't need $200 million for awesome storytelling. Trust me, in a Warner Bos. budget perspective, "Civil War" is low budget at $50 million. Great review, I love the indepth longer reviews 🙂
My most anticipated movie this year!! Can’t wait
I see the red sunglasses as “seeing the world in rose colored glasses”
Moura is so underrated

SO underrated, and it's quite striking to me that this entire ensemble is so underrated: Dunst, McKinley Henderson. I mean... they're all fucking fab! They deserve the attention because this is Oscar-worthy stuff here. Spaeny too.
Saw you guys at numerous premieres!! Love the content.
Plemons reminds me of the "O Face" guy from "Office Space".
I saw the series on Amazon and Moura really is incredible 26:48
Love the commentary guys
I'm super excited for this
yo why you got such beautiful eyes dawg?
This movie will be huge. It looks chilling and powerful and extremely well done. Can’t wait to see it!
Wagner Moura in "Tropa de Elite" (A.K.A "elite squad") = ❤️😯
GT BMX yeah boy
Loved the movie. I like that you guys pick up on this but I'd have liked you to take it further: it feels a lot like Alex Garland is-by making America the setting-really trying to show Americans how... yeah, all those places we see depicted in film as war zones abroad? That could be us too! It's very... anti-American exceptionalism in that way, which I admire so much! On Kirsten Dunst's performance: Oh boy. The weight of her performance is just mind-blowing and it stuns me that I've never... seen her in this kind of role or film before? She's done every genre under the sun but nothing like this (that I remember!) She's absolutely amazing! Showy enough for awards-but obviously not super showy in general, and definitely not as showy as Mr. Dunst i.e. Jesse Plemons. They're both so great, what a talented couple! Quick aside: I think Stephen McKinley Henderson is up there with Moura and Spaeny. We take his gifts for granted too much! Such a great character actor.
As a Canadian I probably have a different take on the cautionary tale this movie is presenting (I haven't seen the film yet but will -- although I've seen a number of clips). I've been watching the U.S. closely for the past 60 years -- thankfully I was born in Canada and wasn't drafted to go and die in Viet Nam when I was eighteen. Maybe Garland should have added a foreign correspond to the group of journalists heading to Washington D.C. This would have given him a chance to add a different perspective to the conversation -- could a civil war break out in the U.S. -- probably. In fact, it could happen in Canada. Canada's not doing well? I just got back from New Zealand and gas is $280/litre -- the cost of living is significantly higher than in Canada -- glad to be home. In my opinion social media will end up destroying civilization.
This could happen in about 8 months time, honestly.

The overall flaw with this "masterpiece" is that there is no way any news reporters would travel across country during a hot civil war. Who would they be working for? How would they be getting paid?

I agree, reporters are often cowardly so they wouldnt do that.

I agree lol. Too many stans tho so we're outvoted by default.
The film is cringworthingly bad. Trading on the Left's current fantasy of America descending into a civil war (the opposite side being those who fail to agree with them), this is supposed to be a topical and relevant film. So...Texas and Florida, for some reason are on one side. And the film tells us that most of the rest of the center of America has wisely decided to pass on this, leaving us to wonder why the bozos on the East Coast are fighting, and about what. Never explained, but not to worry: Profound conclusion here: the reasons get lost in the violence. Yawn. Most of the film is a road trip movie of 4 not particularly believable war journalists heading to DC for the final battle. Profound insight here: spending a life covering war's violence eats at the soul. Note this trope of the empowered female war correspondent has been done multiple times - so now there is this thing with the young aspiring female war photographer who has this Oedipal struggle with the older established female war correspondent. Lots of bullets and explosions at the end, the White House is taken, leaving not much of any conclusion, except to fuel current fanciful forebodings being peddled by the media. At best, a second rate action film with huge and failed pretensions.
Cringe Canadian takes about a Cringe Englishman movie through the lens of cringe leftist power fantasy.
