I love hoopskirts!! They're so beautiful and feminine and ladylike!! Several years ago, I wore a hoop dress for Halloween party, and I never felt lovelier or more comfortable in other clothes before or since!!! Just wish we could wear more ladylike clothing!! 🤗🤗💖💖✝️⚜️
Girls would spend time walking with book on head to get the gliding walk necessary to keep the hoops from rocking which was considered vulgar and possibly indecent exposing ankles
Очень нравятся такое видео спасибо за показ
Open section in the front - accommodate far or pregnant belly? Can't see how it's much of an exit.
Women literally kept in a cage!
1:10 This is mostly a myth. Only a scant few ultra-vain women cinched their waists uncomfortably. The "small waist" is an illusion created by the humongous skirt.
When I look at these, I don't think beautiful. I think confined, hot, uncomfortable.

Margaret louise compared to previous Victorian undergarments, hoop skirts were super liberating and comfortable for women. Before, women wanted that belle look, so they would pile layers of stuff petticoats on top of each other, creating a heavy and hot skirt that was very confining for the legs. When the hoop skirt was invented, there was an entire shield around the legs, allowing them to move freely and with ease. It was also cheaper and less heavy, as less petticoats were needed to get the desired shape

@@foamandfog3112 I guess that's true, although still pretty confining by our standards. Did you ever see the hilarious sendup of Carol Burnett in a hoop skirt?

@@foamandfog3112 Long time ago so I don't remember if it was that, but she sat down and the hoops went over her head.
Those pantaloons are what made the can can dance so scandalous. Women would lift their legs often showing everything below.
So unpractical.
