Civies to Monty's Men: A WW2 British Kit overview

This series of videos will follow us through our preparations for next year's Monty's Men Trip which is considered the top in WW2 reenacting. We'll be covering preparations and getting our kit up to the exceptionally high standards required
Monty’s Men is a collective of individual living historians who are usually members of other groups. The group, albeit without a name, existed in 2002 but the first Monty’s Men ‘branded’ trip was in 2003 as a platoon of the 9th Battalion, Durham Light Infantry.
The ethos behind the Monty’s Men group is a fully immersive living history experience and, wherever possible, not compromising on accuracy. As such, the men were fed from compo rations to the same menus as the 1944 British infantrymen and there were little modern conveniences other than where modern safety standards required it. @@kevinofishero how much of this is possibly interchangeable with an Indian impression. I’d like to do an Indian one, and then get the other things for the British.

Look forward to hearing what you think of the event. I'm a lot like you, avid long time reenactor and want to take it to the next level. I got onto the page for Monty's men but may have to wait until 23 to get involved (stupid covid delaying everything including my wedding) I didn't know they had item by item kit requirements like no sof shirts. I'll have to do my reading. Coming from the US, don't want to poorly represent lol
Hi ! Great video. Maybe do you know if Commandos carried bayonets AND Fairbairn Sykes knife or just FS knife ?
What size anklets/gaiters do you have on?? I have a pair but they are too small and the size print has worn off and I can’t remember what I got

Hi there.. The shovel just slides down the between the back and small pack. It can’t fall out..

What helmets did they wear as i have seen different types from different pictures?

Like he said in the video, you'd see mk2s (as seen in the video) and mk3s which were used by some units from around mid-1944

How do you wash your tunic? Any specific care I should have?

just chuck it in the washing machine on a low heat and low spin, then hang it out to dry
Any idea where you can get decent reproduction German WW2 uniform?
