I have a 2010 cobalt ss . It's the turbo model. And I'm building a rsx. Cobalt is cheaper because it's already turbo . But k series can make more power

I just sold 2/3 of my collection. [Kept the '98 M3] Bought a '98 CRV. At the salvage yard, looking for a new engine.
This is such a cool channel. It's very educational. I like that you help us save money and share all of your tricks to do that.
cool video. those k24a4 have a very low compression. you can turbo it and get close to 500 whp. I swapped a jdm k20a type r into my ep3. im very pleased with the end result.
K24a2/k20a2/z1, rsx 6speed trans , kpro would of been almost 3k itself lol
You guys are one of the first I know of that's doing a project video like this for a k series, definitely interesting. I've always wanted to do this swap in my em2 but with the down time, all the hours of work and money involved it's not practical for someone like me with one vehicle. I'd rather just spend 3 grand on a car with the k series or just get the accord with the v6. Still very cool to watch this happen. Most people who do this swap are not very clear on everything needed or don't want to help at all.

+VTEC Academy This is very cool! But yeah, we're at the point now where the Accord can be purchased for about $3k. I would love to see someone do a 2003 5 speed k24a4 accord coupe project. Such a sweet spot of cable throttle K24 and still just barely under 3000 lbs. also a good platform to take advantage of large 17" rubber.

The main thing is different mount kit and the addition of a subframe from an EG or DC2. The subframe swap helps locate the engine in a better position.

Hasport Performance also makes a mount kit that doesn't require the use of an EK subframe, but not for the K24 engine and trans. The Hybrid racing mount kit doesn't work with the K24 trans. The stock EK subframe makes the engine sit about 2 inches further forward, so if you use a K24 the engine hangs really low to clear the hood.

Brian Gillespie correct me if im wrong but if u dont used the EG subframe it leave the axels in a wrong angle causing to brake easy while drag racing.

They were habitually over weight like the H series, once the K series rolled out H was done. The J series is just a repeat of that lesson.

Great video, Mr Gillespie. I have an old issue of Import Tuner(I think?) with a black EF hatch project you guys did doing a B16A2 swap How-To for cheap, and I'm pretty sure it's you in the pictures! Very cool.

If I get a 05 accord ecu,engine,trans, and engine harness all matching. Will I still need to make changes to the accord harness or can I just plug everything in??

I have EJ1 and I'm waiting for electric modifications to get more affordable to go EV.
Where'd you guys get the ecu flashed? All I can ever find the the kit for sale but obviously the OBD from a 2000s accord won't work on a non existent OBD diagnostic port on an EG.
2:10 Im having trouble with getting power to the ecu. I have a 03 harness with 03 accord ktuner ecu. And im using a ktuned conversion harness. Do i need to repin stuff too?

Bandito NA K series > Boosted B series. No boost is a safer platform, sidewalls are too thin on Honda motors, they’re a ticking bomb. They’ll go out eventually. K series makes good power and They’re better to NA
I can’t get much mounts here in South Africa, either they’re too expensive or unavailable. Could a k swap be done with fabricated mounts?

I used the element harness, and i re-pinned it mirror image. Am i set to plug it straight into the conversion harness? To be clear, this isn't hasport ktuner conversion harness, this is the regular ebay conversion harness. I am using ktuner.

on ebay there is knock off mounts that im willing to give a try for $200. dont be fooled, there is no such thing as BUDGET when doing a build. they arent also taking into consideration how much a clean eg or ek hatch cost. also when you are done doing your research and realize that you should go k24a2, you better add on another thousand. take it from the guy that started out going all motor to turbo to $15k civic build. save your money buy rsx thats already done or save for s2k.
Man I wish/hope they have something for the Honda Crx’s I have a SiR (non vetch)and I’m trying to figure out what all I have to do to either turbo it or what I can and can’t do just to make it fast

Nahun Flores it's pretty easy when you take it step by step. The great thing about the K-Tuned stuff is the customer support that comes along with it. They can help you with advice on any hurdles that may come up with your swap.

What axles are you using with the 06 intermediate shaft? They look like EP3 or Base RSX axles, but not specified in your parts list.

We used HP-EGKAX from Hasport because the RSX left axle is too short. They're currently on back order, but if you call Hasport during normal business hours they can tell you what your options are.

hybrid racing has a lot of parts for K swapping
neighbor k24 swapped eg but bogs out when you rev up.any common issues you seen?its a tsx k24/kpro harness and i think hondata kpro ecu i think he said from 02-04 rsx base model. after scanning it had o2 codes/coolant temp and i think it said "communication network" as another code

Is there a check engine light? Almost always if there is a problem like that there is a check engine light.

I'm curious as to the exhaust system you used on this build. I have a K20A type r with the DC header, but for the life of me I can't figure out what to use to bolt to the header???? int has the triangle non-donut gasket and I can't find anything that fits. Anybody has any clues?

The immobilizer can be shut off if you are using a K-Pro or KTuner. If not then you will need an immobilizer and wiring.

That can probably be done a little easier than the EG build. The 2002 can use a lot of stock parts where the EG had to use swap specific parts.

Seems like you're trying to reinvent the wheel here. A K20A2 full swap can be had for the same cost as a B18C from the start and comes with the most desirable parts as far as swapping into an EG chassis. Consider that you're typically upgrading to aftermarket parts to get a K to work properly in the EG. If the B series owner decided to do the same upgrades (mounts, header, fuel system, axles, clutch, programmable ECU, etc) which cost similar to the K parts, is the B owner really saving money?

This swap is being done for a B series budget to show people going K series isn't that cost prohibitive anymore

I am thinking about doing an engine swop for my 1995 Honda Civic HB. It currently has the 1.5 liter Vtec. What engines choices do I have with this car; if it will fit, I would like to install a 2 liter (K20?) and I'd like to stay with the Vtec system if possible/practicable. If it is an option, which is a better block/crank to handle a turbo, the "K" or "B" series? -- Thanks Chris

Your choices in order of difficulty are B-series, H-series and K-series. Here is a greatly simplified overview. The B can be done with stock mounts, new shift rods, a slightly modified engine harness and new ECU. The H can be done with H-series swap mounts, conversion to cable shift, some chassis mods, a modified engine harness and new ECU. The K-series requires more modifications to the chassis, conversion to cable shifter, wiring adapters, new engine harness, radiator mods, and new ECU. I have left out a lot of the details. We may get to an over view of the process at some point since we have both a K-series and B-series swap here.
Would this also work on a ek hatch? Or would there be different expenses?

Yeah I have a 2003 Element with a stock K24A4 and a 5-speed auto. Works fine. I'm not exactly sure where you'd be able to find the engine and transmission for cheap, but the combo works.

This motor is a 2.4L correct? Will that fit in a four door 2002 civic dx with no modification? I was looking at the 2.0 L K20s which were about 850 after shipping

Kind of. You need a mount kit and RSX or 03-05 Civic Si subframe. There are a few tight places like the throttle body is very close to the hood latch support and in the way if you use a CRV K24. It's also best to change the lower radiator hose fitting so it works better too.

Yes, unlesss you're using the K20A3 transmission. Then you need a different mount kit like Hasport's EGK2 mount kit.

Yes, Hasport has that available. But you'll need a transmission adapter plate. Or some other transmission. Science of Speed is working on the adapter plate.
