In this game of Civ 6, we’ll be playing using a mod that gives us a slight overhaul for Wilhelmina in Civilization Six.
I say a slight overhaul. This mod has made it so that The Netherlands has access to an extra district, unit and cultural ability! That’s right, we’re building canals EVERYWHERE and then after that we’ll polderpolderpolderpolderpolderpolder polder

Doing logistics in this game is so unreasonably fun. I wish military engineers didn’t lose their ability to make roads after railroads and could make roads infinitely too so you can pave your empire then build railroads between cities so you can have the best of both worlds!

Honestly I never understood why traders didn't lay railroads and military engineers did, itd make so much more sense for the engineers to get infinite roads when you unlock trains and for the tracks to only exist between cities via traders. Or maybe have stations be a building and you can have a construction project that builds tracks between any two given stations

As a dutchy, this series brought absolute tears to my eyes, what a utopia you created. Only thing I'm waiting for is a mod that allows for endless cycling lanes, that would be the true dream; canals and cycling lanes as far as the eye can see

I find it so strange that the terrestrial laser station has a launching rocket cinematic. I guess it's just a celebratory launch?

Definitely agree that benefitting from fixing a problem that you created is a broken mechanic in the game. However, it was such a wonderful exploit that I can't even be mad at it.
I love the orange color and the orange evil crabs when looking at the religion lens. I think the crabs and the yellow Lion are my favorites. Predicting that Canalus Belli with zero grievances for attacking civs that can be accessed by a canal will be in civ 7, and needs to be added which is causing the game to not be finished yet. But they are just getting their priorities straightened out.

5:41 Fort Zeelandia is quite a nice touch here, as the IRL fort (built 1624) is also built as a colonial frontier in southern Taiwan. The Dutch built it on a long sand bar off the main coastline, and it later grew into a small trading town. Hopefully they didn’t raze any previous settlements before building it…

Right now I'm really trying to restrain my inner Michael Scott from exploding like Vesuvius with all the canal puns. But seriously, this is just very satisfying! One of my favorite map script mods, Fantastical, can generate large inland seas that wrap around parts of the world. And it's always been my dream to get a game where you can connect them with canals and reach across the world. Ooh, you know, it would be fun if there was a mod where you could charge the other players to send traders across your borders. I love connecting my borders. It would just be that much cooler if there was a reward to it. Anyway, logorrhea done.
The future of the netherlands will be looking at this video in preperation for the floods coming in 2067

This has been a fun one, but it's reminded me of an old grievance I have with civ canals. Why can you only build them one tile long? The entire point of them is they are created "rivers" - it should be possible to build several in a line. (Same thing for aqueducts, the famously long water management systems designed specifically to bring water in from far away!)

irl I feel you. in game I don't mind it - often a limitation just makes the challenge more fun = )
Now I really want to do this, but using the Got Lakes map script to more perfectly enable the canaling.
With terrestrial laser stations, I recently tried rushing it in a city with loads of spare renewable power (like 30+ with Biosphere) and I think it worked? Probably what happens is the game produces power from coal etc on turn start, so it will never have enough unless you have 5 power spare from other sources. More testing required ^^

yes that's it - if you're working power from an oil or coal plant it will break because there isn't enough excess "spare" power, but if you have a big glut you should be fine!

What about an Oxford c.b call cleansing of the tainted and if you raise the city with Oxford it’s not grievance and if you don’t capture the city it’s normal and if you keep the city the grievance is tripled?
I never noticed before today that the railroad gets highlighted on the mini-map too.

Is there a mod that prevents Barbarians from spawning up/down in the snow caps? I hate how that is always where they end up relegated to after the start of the game, and I feel like not letting them spawn there would force them to spawn in more relevant places around the middle of the map later into the game.

Yes! I think that it just was too much for Ursa to "bear", that he couldn't raze the city to the ground.

I feel a bit dead inside seeing a Shinto city being raised Shinto is my equivalent of feed the world I always go for it if possible and try to protect the civ with Shinto if not so I kinda feel wrong for failing to protect that city even though I can’t influence it in any way but still doesn’t feel good poor Shinto cities:(

they're already half price, so 20% of that cost is less than the 45%ish I got using the charge to chop - I did rush a few later on when I had engineers hanging around
The mod is just really incomplete with such glaring issues with the unique canal... you can tell the modder never really used canals much before, such a shame
