The mechanic always chooses a luxury available in the world that you do not have. Therefore, it punishes people who collect luxuries. The secret is to trade away all the luxuries you can and only get the ones that people demand back for a little while. Makes total sense. Then everyone just demands cloves and Jakarta is stingy, so you're screwed for the rest of the game.

lol Civ VI doesn't even have that many female leaders. Only 5/20 are female. And besides Catherine di Medici, they're all pretty important. I don't know why people think civ vi is trying to be pc.

Cool Dude I tried to go for a culture victory. I stayed to myself on my secluded island until one day, I got attacked by one of the ai out of no where. I successfully defended and they gave me one of their cities in exchange for peace (who could deny a free city) Hundred turns later they all denounced be because I was a blood thirsty "warmonger"

Same! I got randomly recommended a Civ VI vid and loved it, instant sub.

This is even funnier in german cause the german translation for "whales" and "elections" is very alike ("Wale" and "Wahlen"), so it seems like he's demanding elections instead of cheering the king even if he don't know what an election is XD

This is still one of my favorite Civ skits after all these years

I've been rewatching most of your civ 5 and 6 videos and I gotta say, this one didn't use to be my favorite, but I think it is now. I mean, there are great things about every one. Hilarious things even! But the guy demanding whales ........ He's just too good. Perfectly captures the spirit of today's mindless sheep. Almost scary, actually, how you were able to demonstrate it. Now I wish he was in more of your skits - he was really good!

And if the American Empire has the appropriate Aesthetics Social Policy then He'll get a culture bonus for building it.

I once had every single luxury on the map (I was Portugal, and used the unique tile upgrade on all the city states). Naturally all my cities started to demand silver. There was no silver in the planet. At all. But they still wanted it.
