I grew up in Eagle River and now live in the Lower 48. When I was a kid and we visited the Matanuska Valley, it was tiny. Now, seeing all the chain stores and restaurants breaks my heart. I have many fond memories of eating out as a kid in Eagle River at the plethora or locally-owned places...I hope the local entrepreneurs can compete with the corporations that could care less about Alaskans. Same could be said about everywhere...

I love Alaska, never been there but my dream is to live there, just sad that I’m 65 years old and don’t have that much to take advantage to see and live the way I would love to live… never seen snow before, I’m from South Florida we’re our cold is in the 60th…

If your from Florida and 65 it's just a dream, you would never survive the cold. I'm 53 and thinking of moving there but I'm from Tennessee and at least here we have a winter and it has gotten down to 10 degrees.

@@theclarkbrothers315 Because I've lived in Florida too, I know how hot and humid it is there. I've lived a lot of places, some cold, including Germany for 3 years. I'm just saying if he's never been out of Florida it's going to be a hard time because he probably has never even lit a wood stove fire.

Baack in 1974 when I lived there. \The only thing there was AIH Hardware....that was the only thing!

I was first there in 1967, my family built a cabin on Finger Lake. Over the years I was in it many times. However the crowds, newer moved in citizens that were not old school Alaskans put me on the move and relocated to near Seward in 2009. To Anchorage and Wasilla...Goodbye, hope you don't miss me 'cause I don't miss you today. Finger Lake is still good and Palmer is alright.

yes, traffic is really bad and people are angry, argumentative and aggressive. They have no limit when comes to the speed. It's scarry.

The whole mat-su valley: an excellent place to watch people smoke meth and scream at trees 😂
