City of No Illusions
Nearly one in six homes in Buffalo, NY is vacant, overwhelming the cash-strapped city. But residents of its most blighted neighborhood are taking matters into their own hands. Produced in 2011 by Vanessa Carr at UC Berkeley's Graduate School of Journalism. Part of our New Voices series, featuring the next generation of video journalists.

I just want to say. This video is so amazingly well done. I grew up in Buffalo and experienced the traditions and rich culture that made the city so great. It brings tears to my eyes to see what it has become.

Dale the good news is that Buffalo is doing well these recent years !! The government is really making an effort and in Toronto we see ads promoting travelling to Buffalo in our subway, and on the busiest shopping street (Queen Street West of Toronto).
Growing up on the west side you could always get a job at the steelmills, ford or chevy plant and all the company's that supplied them and others. My father was a labor foreman in local 210 there wasn't a road bridge in this town he didn't pour the concrete for. Built the Bills stadium. Had to leave to find work. Still miss it. Good Luck on the rebuild
Great video. Buffalo is the Best!
I really hope Buffalo becomes rich again
