    This was VERY nice! I wish all cemeteries took the care of our loved ones this seriously. I can also understand now after seeing this process how headstones can be replaced in the wrong areas as well as chipped or broken. If the movers/diggers are careless anything is possible. thanks for sharing this!!! I always wonder how /what the process was in digging a grave and refilling it with soil.

    The crew in Keene do a lovely job. All the cemeteries look nice, during the virus, many in Keene have enjoyed walking in the cemeteries as they have wide paths (for social distancing) and not many cars to dodge! Very respectful people watching after all the cemeteries, we have some very OLD ones, and those of us that live in Keene are glad they are managing even the older ones and are so helpful.

    NICELY DONE. I have seen many graves with a large hump of dirt after burial. It really looks unprofessional.

  • @ladym1910

    @ladym1910

    2 жыл бұрын

    That fresh hump of dirt is just the same earth that was removed and put back over the coffin. Since it is no longer compacted, like it was when it was underground, it creates a hump. It needs six months to settle and become flat again. If some of the earth was removed and not placed back, when the earth would settle, it would leave a large hole and not be flat. A foundation for a gravestone or foot stone can then be placed above or below the perimeter of the coffin area. Those are the regulations which I was told in New York City.

    At my Dad's burial , once the casket was placed in the what it would had been a "vault" and the soil was placed over it , only but the close family was still at the burial site , and suddenly an old lady showed up yelling that the grave site belonged to her !! Right away the cemetery employees checked out her allegations by examining records and indeed my Dad had been buried in the wrong place . My Dad had to be reburied in the right plot . It seems that someone had taken notice of the mistake and informed the rightfull owner , which was the right thing to do . This happened for real on 1983 in Puerto Rico 🇵🇷.

    I have seen videos before but there is still one question I have that I have not seen addressed. The straps under the casket-- since they are continuous, how do they get the straps from under the casket??? And for some, fyi--a coffin is different than a casket. A coffin has a one-piece lid where a casket has a two-piece lid. I researched it after seeing royal funerals and the "container" called a coffin while normally in the U.S. caskets are used so you view just the upper part of the body. So I now know the difference in a coffin and a casket. And coffins used back in the days of pioneers, etc. When the workers left, all I could think was how lonely it was. When my husband died suddenly in 2006, I went back to the cemetary 2 weeks later, my son had flown back home after staying a week longer to help me tie up loose ends and I went back to the cemetery by myself. As I was walking away, I felt such heartache as I looked back, because I was leaving him behind. The morning my son's bus left the airport for Chicago to fly home, it was 5a.m. and still dark. The only light was from the lights in the parking lot and fromt the moon. I had outlived my family andy my son was all I had. As I stood there watching his bus going down the highway, with tears pouring down my cheeks, standing by myself in that huge parking lot, until his bus was no longer visible, that was when it hit me that I was all alone. The heartache from losing my husband of 30 years and then realizing that I was all alone took everything out of me and I just sat in my car until I could stop crying and get myself settled down so I could safely drive back to an empty house. Now, I am facing the last years of my own life due to lung issues and reality hit hard as I watched this video. Death is a part of living and even thiugh we all know this is where we end up, it still happens to "other" people, not us. I will not step on a grave out of respect for that person's life. Doesn't seem right to walk on them. But that's just me. This video was respectful which is nice. It is just a job to those who work at the cemetery but still, it is someone's loved ones.

    Most of the time the remains are lowered in long after the mourners have left because it takes a bit of time to finish the burial process , the casket is put into the vault then both the vault and casket are lifted up so the lid can be placed on and sealed shut then the vault is then lowered into the grave which takes a few minutes to lower down. It's best that the mourners not be there cause the cemetery workers have to be able to do their work easily and as quickly as possible so that they can prepare for another burial.

    It happens a lot more then you think, I’m sure you walk over someones grave when you visit a loved one. if you want to be out there in 100 plus degree weather digging for hours on end with a shovel your more than welcome to get down in the dirt with them, if not, don’t tell us how to do our job

    Are you really that dumb? Complaining about people who are doing their job the proper way? Should they have thrown the concrete vault (easily 2000+ pounds) in the grave with their own hands too, just to make you happy? You would give up half-way through digging a grave by hand, probably died by the looks of it. People are so damn stupid these days

    Was it disrespectful when they worked on your loved ones service? Have you tried backfilling a double depth grave in the rain by shovel? Believe me it's not easy to walk on let alone shovel mud while keeping the lawn as clean as possible!
