Good stuff. You've missed one important fact regarding the City support. Mark Hughes when he was QPR manager said that when Aguero scored that winner its the loudest noise he's ever heard at any ground he'd ever been to. Also the Sky audio was clearly clipping as the sound levels were so high. You are correct about the fact that a lot of people only follow football via internet so will believe anything. One United fan on Facebook group told me I wasn't a proper fan and we have shit support. I told him I had a season ticket from 1980 to 2005 and went to 33 away grounds supporting the blues. This despite us winning nothing and getting relegated several times. This United fan lives in New Jersey ! When I asked him what his credentials were as a United fan he said "I've not been yet but hope to visit the UK in the near future" !!! What planet are these muppets on ?

Great vid. I’m 38 had a season ticket since 89 the 5-1 year. We have always had great support since I was a child. We’re working class people, it cost around 7 grand a year atm to go home and away every game on the piss with your mates including tickets/trip etc. Not everyone can afford that. Blue army

City's success didn't exist before 2012, the fans can fill a stadium occasionally but not consistently. The club has a history but compared to big clubs such as Arsenal, United, Forest and Liverpool for example the history is nothing. City is a club that has been bought and fast tracked by a sheikh. It is a club with a stadium with reduced capacity from its former stadium which still only sells 30K seats a game. It is a club that no matter what success it has will never have the fan base of its neighbours who've had no success for years but have true loyal fans that fill an enormous stadium consistently. City will always be in the shadow and known as the third biggest in Manchester behind united and Salford city never mind England never mind the world

Excellent dissertation on the subject. I would also stress that we are in competition for fans with the most successful team in PL era. Some teams, for example Newcastle, who do have excellent fans, have a city to themselves.

I’m a huge MC fan representing in the US!! Since I’ve yet to see a game in person, I’m looking to come over to Manchester in Nov for the CL game on the 3rd and Manchester Derby on the 6th. Can’t wait to experience all of it!

I live in North Wales, it takes me an hour and a half to drive to Manchester to watch the City games, it’s not far at all. I’ve been a City fan since I was 5 years old, Maine Road was the first football ground I ever went to and I’m 35 now, so 30 years on it’s fair to say I’ve been through the highs as well as a lot of the lows. But I love this club, I cried when Aguero scored the winner for us against QPR and I’m not ashamed to admit that. I’ve always stuck with my club, I’ve always defended it and will do until the day I die! Fuck the haters I say, it is an agenda people have against City, it’s pure jealousy because City are having the success they wish their clubs had. People can call us plastic, but let’s be honest, United and Liverpool have the most plastic fans in world football, not to mention the most toxic. And i don’t mean ALL of them, but the majority certainly are. Like I said, I was born and raised in North Wales and nearly everybody around here support United and Liverpool, with many City or Everton or Leeds fans mixed in, and do you know why? Because they are sheep, your typical glory hunters supporting the teams that were winning at the time. Not me, I wanted to be different. All them years of getting laughed at and getting the piss taken out of because City were struggling, all in good football banter of course, but all them years of hurt was truly worth it when you consider where City are today. So don’t let the haters get you down guys, we know what City are as a football club, and we are proud of our club, nobody will ever take that away from us. In fact without City`s help they didn`t win a trophy till 1952. When City were breaking those crowds records utd were getting gates as low as 3,000 and in 1934 City broke their own record which they`ve actually held since 1923 a mere 98yrs and counting.

Not sure where or what season you got the old Trafford figures from because excluding covid the avg attendance hasn't dipped below 74k unless you're kicking it back 15 odd years when the stadium was in development
