In the 2009/10 season the Bluebirds reached the Championship play-offs for the first time and faced Leicester City over two legs. On May 9th 2010, Peter Whittingham scored a memorable free-kick in this first leg, to give the Bluebirds a narrow 1-0 lead heading back to Cardiff City Stadium.
