Citroen 2cv: from scrap to star - complete restoration from scratch

This was my very first classic car restoration.
I didn't know anything about cars back then and I taught myself along the way.
From engine mechanics to spraying paint passing through mig welding... I did everything myself.
Many more followed this one.

For not knowing what you were doing you did a great job, if you enjoy the hard work then good for you. I never made a ton of money working on cars, but I enjoyed what I was doing, everyone got a quality job at a cheap price.

Nice work! I had a Dyane as my first car and my dad patiently reconstructed a c pillar from thin air for the MOT... Great fun cars to drive - I hope you enjoy it and this encourages more people to fix them up.

I've always wanted to make restoring a vintage car a bucketlist item for myself, it's very promising to see that someone who has no idea about cars can succeed in the end :)

Bravo my friend. I’m so glad you had the progressive images to make your clip and then post it. It was fascinating to see your tin snail deconstructed and the finished project is a beauty. Why do people post such stuff? In a spirit of generosity I suppose. I am full of thanks that you did.

Very inspiring mate! I mean especially if you started out with little or non knowledge on mechanics. It shows that if you put your mind to it, you can do anything..... or nearly :-) However, beautiful car, good job there. Love the older French car's !!!! Especially Citroën (and Renault). Hope you will be able to put more of them back on the road.

I would love to own a 2CV but here in America even the cheapest 2CV is going to cost a good $17,000 and I just can't afford that. Do you think it would be possible to build one by buying one part at a time?

such repairs on the chassis are not recommanded, the best is to afford a NEW chassis (originals are built by "Mehari club de Cassis" who buy all the original Citroën factory tools): not so expansive and you have a quarantee the resistance is ok (exists in anti rust black paint or galvanized)

Someday, I hope to purchase a 2CV and work on it, my wife owned 2 of them in the 80s but they are now very scarce in Ireland. maybe I will look in UK or Europe. I see you are also a pilot .. let me know if you visit Ireland and I will take you for a trip.
