"Just leave me lonely" what a great line to explain the dichotomy of wanting to be alone but desperately wanting someone to reach out and connect with. You're lonely and you don't want to be but you can't bear the noise others bring so you isolate. Great song!!

Jake is a songwriting genius. He's practically the Ernest Hemingway of songwriting: totally underrated and absolutely awesome. These guys could easily get a record deal, but it's probably best that they don't. Record labels tend to restrict creative freedom. I like them how they are: heavy lyrics that pull no punches.

As someone for who this is their primary coping mechanism, this song is devastatingly honest. Wow. From one musician to another, you hit all the right notes. This is more than a good song; this is art.

I’m a trauma survivor with PTSD. Citizen Soldier always makes me feel better and it describes how I feel all the time. Thanks for creating such godly music!

Same here, I've been living with social anxiety for about 15 years (I'm 27) and I've never felt so understood than when I listen to this song.

You’re music helped me realize the feelings that were happening inside me. If not for your music, I’d be walking around broken and not know I was bleeding out. Your music helps me realize I need to heal. And in return, I can help others heal. Nearly took my life a month ago. But I didn’t, got the semicolon tattoo, and I promised to live and help others live. 3 weeks later I talked my friend out of taking his life. 3 hour battle filled with screams and tears. Same here, decided to open up to my ex and she ended up cheating on me after because she couldnt look at me the same way again, i was a weak man to her, then i decided to open up once more to a couple of friends of mine well long story short we arent friends anymore so i understand the pain

I feel so stupid listening to this because I haven't dealt with a lot of the things many of you have experienced but I love the music and it just touches a place in my heart that I never knew was there. I am glad to have found music that so many people feel they can relate to but I feel like I shouldn't intrude on that connectedness.

"Don't pity me here in my cage. The darkness is my one escape" Now that is the line that really hits home for me. I can honestly relate to this now more than ever before, both emotionally and physically. I spend what time little free time I have Isolated in my room, away from my family by my own choice. I love them but at the same time I cannot stand to be around them because they're the kind of people whom are always so negative and hostile towards each other as well as anyone who gets involved. They say they want to see who I really am on the inside. But every single time the real me shimmered through the shadows, he's shunned, shamed, judged and rejected everytime. So I guess im just alone. I can't say I know what acceptance feels like, but I can say that I'm used to that by now.

I'm currently isolating. The numbness is saving me from dying inside every minute. I'm oversleeping mostly, but sleep is the only place where I don't feel and everything is fine. I don't want to stand up, I don't want to fight anymore. I just can't. But on the other hand I just have to. And I'm glad to be here. But it's hard. I'll fight later. Thank you Citizen Soldier for songs that hit so hard. I know that you do because you were/are in the same situation and so I am concerned that we have the fighting spirit to stay one day more and then another and then again! This is your sign: ;

For those that don't know, the "alarm" noise in the beginning is Morse code for send help. Yall need to know the real intention of the song. While they're singing, " let me isolate" the beat/alarm noise is code for help. The attention to detail is great.

Sometimes you go through such hard times filled with carelessness and bullsh*t, that you start to ask yourself: "Am I the only one who can care for others" and the funny thing is that SO SO many people are asking themselves this question. We just can't cross roads...just as you know the world is small, and it's too big at the same time. Stay strong, you're not alone!

I stay in my room all day and never get out but even in there I don’t feel okay. I only feel okay when I’m sleeping. Sleep for me is an escape from reality.

These lyrics gave me the chills, I get the feeling that they speak to me. It has really helped me through some difficult times, I'm thankful for being able to listen. Citizen Soldier you really make music on a whole different level, at least that is what I'm feeling.

Save for the "whats been done to me" part i relate to all of this. Its not that ive been abused but i have been just seeking reclusiveness and just "sink into myself" i dont know how to describe it

I had to move from my moms house from...complications...I felt like my mother didn't love me....and I believed no one did....so I isolated myself in my room at my grandmas...didn't get out of there for two months because of the pain I was in. The only I went outside my room was to use the restroom, take my dog out, or to eat which was rarely. I love this song because is speaks closely about me and I'm sure everyone else here too. God bless you Citizen soldier, you are amazing, I'm proud to have you ad my Guardian Angels.

This is what PTSD is like for me, when I am reminded of my traumatic experiences, I disconnect from everyone and I sometimes even wish that I could sleep and never wake up because of how this world really is. Music like this is proof that there is help for people like me, others who struggle along with me.

everyday i spend al my time in my room so when i get bad i cry alone and i don't tell anyone and i feel like my room is the one place i belong at times and i remember the last time i listened to citizen soldier was in the summer but i'm back and they still manage to describe how i feel, so thank you for putting these words that are hard to speak into music

Citizen Soldier knows the difference between Music that people want and Music that people need. Last Friday my Self Harm Secret got thrown out in the open after a friend paniced, because I ran away. At that moment, when I saw a few minutes later of scared she was that I would do something to myself, I fully realised what I have been doing the past two months. What I really have been doing. To myself and to my friend. Now that school knows, I am so so scared that I can't put it in words, and I have difficulties relaxing and sleeping. On monday, school wants to speak me again. And your Music helps me to hold on until Monday, without bad behaviour. Thank you So much for giving words to feelings we cant describe, but feel so deep. Dear God I relate to this so well. I sleep most of the day away and do isolate myself from most of my family and friends, I only have one friend that I talk to who knows what I'm going through (severely alcoholic father and very sick mother). I tend to shut myself away and block everything out. Much love for making a song so relatable to what I and many others are currently going through in life.

Isolating and sleeping actually helped me cope whenever I'm sad or about to explode. I recommend others to try it if ever you feel overwhelmed. Take care of yourselves fam ❤️

Tbh this song is about the secret to keep from everyone. Not only that, the rage & sadness grows within the memories builds up to make anyone feel that frustration that can't get rid of it. It's like that's what I feel

Been subbed to this channel for a good while now, and even have Citizen Soldier songs on top of my Spotify list. And OUT OF ALL OF THE SONGS made by Citizen Soldier, this one has the the intro to the song that hits like a badass boss theme. Have you ever considered doing something like that? Make your own boss theme song, like... Brutal, Dark, and where you want to burn everything down? I think you could do something INSANE like that!!!

This song came at such a critical time. Everyday in the darkness I think it's going to be me next because who is going to give a damn if I surrender to the call. And then Citizen Soldier releases a song and I realise I'm not alone at all. So I've built a pillow fort for me and my dog and we'll remain here safe until the darkness recedes. Thank you for your music, it means more than you know ♡

I feel safer when I'm listening to music until I can't stay awake at night. Music always soothed me whether I was angry or sad, it hyped me up when I felt pumped, and in a way it's like my personal caffeine in the morning. Being alone listening to music at night is my favorite because no one can bother me.

As someone who is falling back into a bad place, I’ve been isolating myself a lot lately and this is the song that makes me feel like I’m not alone.

As someone who has severe depression and social anxiety for 20+ years most songs i can relate too. Music is the only thing that has helped through the years and didn't leave. Keep making great music to help others cope with life it shows we aren't alone especially to the younger crowd. If you're suffering and reading this never give up hope and don't be afraid to reach out to someone especially the men since most of us are told at a young age to hide your emotions and man up.

Ohh wow, love this it speaks volumes already 30 seconds in. Remember you're not alone in this. Your music has kept us alive, I'm hoping we can all keep each other motivated and give hope to keep going. I feel this so so much right now, I don't really like how cruel this world continues to become. But they can't snuff out all of our lights if we stay together in this fight. ;

The message is powerful in this, hiding from all the negativity and running away from the suffering and pain, you just wanna be free. sleeping is the only way to block those out

this is exactly how i feel everyday. and its actually to the point where i am numb and im happy theres a band out there thats not afraid to show that kind of depression in music, really tells that we are not alone
