I would buy the jubilee bracelet from longislandwatch that has fitted solid endlinks for the NY0040 range. Looks better than the straight ends. I have both the jubilee and the oyster bracelet and the fit and finish match the watch perfectly. Highly recommend.

@@Cr33pingdeath The longisland bracelets are very high quality, everything is solid stainless steel. I have bought their bracelets both for the NY0040 and also the Casio Duro. they are screwed links and solid end links so rest assured it will hold up.

I have the full lume, hands down toughest and highest quality diver I’ve ever owned. It’s never leaving my collection.

Long Island Watch makes two bracelet options specifically for the NY0040 series, with curved fitted endlinks. The LIW bracelets fit perfectly and look great.

This Citizen Promaster is the SKX Killer.... Hands down... I've got 4, all 8203 dials with 8204 movements. The full lume, coke, Kermit, and the blue... I highly recommend Long Island Watch bracelets for an upgrade to the stock crap... These are my favourite work and vacation watches.

I got a blue dial NY0040 8203 on dial but 8204 on back for Christmas. Found that version to be going for just over €200 including shipping. I hope the updated fugu did not get rid of the just under 42 mm case as it is highly wearable. As for the 8203 on dial and 8204 on caseback I reckon that will be highly collectible among collectors and not just Citizen collectors.

There is a master watch maker on social media rebuilding a Rolex Milgauss that was damaged. This young Chinese watch repair / watch maker was wearing the citizen full lume dive watch. I like to see what watchmakers wear. It can’t be a piece of crap if he’s wearing it

I watched this video the day you released it. Maybe a day after. I logged into my Jomashop account and added a couple to my bag. Then a little voice said, “you’ve got an SKX and you don’t need these.” I emptied my bag and carried on. A couple of weeks went by and I had picked up my grail as well as a complimentary piece and life was good. One day, out of nowhere, I decide “hmm, I don’t have a blue dial watch…” (I make myself sick). So, I start obsessing about that until I’m reminded of my SKX009. I had been so distracted by my Swiss pieces that I had neglected my first automatic watch. The one that started it all. It’s hard to explain, but when I wore it over the weekend it felt… it never felt better. That feeling reminded me of this video. Specifically the comparisons to the SKX. I did some more research on this Citizen PD NY** and I was sold. Managed to find a few and picked ‘em up with no hesitation this time. This is normal behavior, right?

Thanks for your review. It was the nudge I needed - picked one up last week and its just perfect. I have smaller wrists like you and this fits a lot better than my Seiko SRPD53K1, which I've now sold. The width makes such a difference. That and on top of the many features in the NY0040 made it an easy decision. The lume!

I have the full lume in my collection. For about 8 months. I have done a purge of the collection and I happy ended at the number of 8 watches. It is indispensable in my collection. I like so much the tool look and action, of the bezel (you know why I mean) and crown, you feel an action diferent than other watches. I like to change straps on it, now is in a grey waffle strap, before in a green and yellow nato. (Edited) I purchase it when I finished the Open Diver course and it is the link I have to it.

i have one from 1997, i love it because it's my birth year and i wear it on my right wrist. I't's been serviced 2x since then, it runs +10 spd. what a tank

just a 3rd party watchmaker. the nearest citizen service center has bad reviews (watches coming back scratched up). I think any self respecting watchmaker can handle a miyota 8203.@@Ferien7

yes i have the coke model and love it , also have the orient ray 2 love it and yes i have a skx I build my self with all oem parts except the movment went to 4r36 for the hand wind and hack .... Nice video very informative cheers

The Full lume ny0040-09w is sold out!

Thanks to your video I ordered and receicef my coke bezel variant from Jomashop 2 days ago. Bought it under the special discount. The dial printed it has 8203 movement while the edged back is stating 8204 and does hack and hand windable. Loving this purchase. It is joining my beloved diver watch line up - Orient Kamasu and Seiko Monster. The only major dislike of this watch is the day wheel change using the crown is unpleasant. Feel resistance and whenever the day wheel change to half way using the crown, and need to forcefully turn the crown to make a full day change, force that would be like breaking some mechanical parts whenever I did this. However, if I reverse the crown turn at half way as soon as I feel the resistance, then day will change to the next day. So, I just need to keep turning the crown half way then reverse the turn, back and forth to change the day. 😅 Date changing felt normal like my other Japanese or ETA modules. Unsure if this is a common quirk of Miyota 8204 or Miyota 8203 modules, or I should send it back.

Got one for 180 euros last summer on amazon Germany, definitely a great genuine skx alternative, mine does have the upgraded movement

I was looking for an SKX, bought me two pro-divers instead. No regrets I love them, and they were still cheaper than one SKX.

I just purchased the Coke and it's arriving tomorrow. My beater is a G shock! Or maybe my Casio Duro or maybe my Timex Ironman.

You could have a point but it's still a popular watch so citizen would be shooting themselves in the foot if they discontinued it. Incidentally, the full lume version was briefly discontinued around the end of the 2020s and then reintroduced with the 8204 about a year or so back.

Hey! On jomashop how can I tell which one has the new movement? Only one of the models actually said 8204 in description but the others don’t

I think I just bought the last full lume model with steel bracelet on joma shop, went to try to find it after I ordered and it shows out of stock . Can’t wait for it to arrive

Thank you for Citizen investigation availability on theirs website vs Joma's You may be right about it. But to be honest with you even if you are completely wrong about it, having true dive watch that is less expensive that some of those Ali Express so cold homages that comes from legit manufacturer with the history like promaster and having legit certification is just a must to have at lest one in everyones collection. I have black dial with green bezel and I didn't give it to much wrist time vs my turtle (7 3/4" wrist) but when it comes to the rotation it is hard to change it after... I think I'm going to do this full lime dial now.

I recently bought the full lume and I can't stop looking at it. It says 8203 on the dial but the caseback says 8204 and it definitely hacks

The Citizen Promaster NY0040-17L or NY0040 series in general is being replaced or looks to being replaced by the NY0141-10L or NY0141 series. Basically the same watch with the same dial layout but upgraded with a sapphire crystal instead of mineral and has the 8204 movement instead of the 8203 which introduces hacking. And you can find them right around the $300 mark. I picked up mine for $229 a year ago now when they were released and I really like it. The old NY0141 series, that is now heavily discounted, isn't bad but the NY0141 are a better upgrade and a true skx killer!

A mid size fugu would be great. The current NY0040 series watches tend to have 8204 movements.

I bought the aqualand bn2038-01L . It has a complicated setting for water depth. Love the watch but can you recommend a site to get a tutorial on how to set it

I agree with you - the NY0040 is one of the best divers watches ever made and is perhaps my all time personal favorite. I actually own 5 of them including a couple of Asian market limited editions. I can also highly recommend the Jubilee bracelet sold by Long Island watches that fit the case of this watch perfectly.

Agree, seikos are way too big, heavy, and bulky. Super uncomfortable to wear. The citizen Promaster solves that problem

By any chance do you know any store were to find the full lume (NY0040-09W) in Europe? I already tried in almost all European Amazon stores and ship it from the US will imply a huge cost in handling and taxes. Thanks

You mention that yours runs 14 seconds or better, you can actually regulate it yourself to make it way more accurate. I managed to make mine +4 seconds a day.

Is it true that the 8203 non-hacking is slightly more accurate than the newer 8204 version?
