That growl at 0:25 is priceless. "Ah, Mr. Thatcher, would you please tell the Committee about the background concerning the allegations made by Mr. Kane in The Inquirer?" "Hrrrrrrrr!"

George Coulouris was so perfect as Thatcher, striking a fine balance between Thatcher the robber baron and Thatcher the former guardian of his ex-ward, Kane. You see more than just the "greedy capitalist" in Coulouris' performance, but also his fatherly concerns for Charlie whom Thatcher thinks has abandoned all sense of responsibility and custodianship of the Kane inheritance.

One of the many details of this film, Mr. Thatcher, played by George Coulouris, looks at the camera several times.

Technically, it ISN'T his screen opener because the elderly and dying Kane / Welles is at the very beginning of the film; however, given the nonlinear nature of the narrative, this scene marks the "opener" for "young Kane" in his prime.

Wow, a lot of camera and writing flexes in this scene. @1:15 that was very subtle camera work when he was in and out of the frame, and in focus the whole time.

Kane also cared about the little guy even if he was also out for himself. Trump doesn't care about anyone but himself.

@@CJ87317 President Trump does care about the little guy. I am a little guy that got a tax break. The liberals say the tax break is only for the wealthy; that that is not true. I was able to keep on another employee with that tax break. President Trump is a billionaire and did not need this job. He does care about us and what has happened to the control of this country. He wants to put the control back into the hands of the little guy.

I guarantee you I'm more of a little guy than you are. And no, he doesn't. The average person got a very slight tax break. Wealthy got HUGE tax breaks.
