Jack Savage Maybe, but people has compared their early stuff to Brand New as well, even though it sound nothing like them. And i still stand by my point, a modern with shoegaze elements? They sound like Whirr.. a band uses spoken word parts? They are like La Dispute. A band makes really long songs? They are just like Fucked Up

This is isn't shoegaze. This isn't Brand New (they are one of Mat's favorites so it would make sense that their influence would rub off sometimes), its just Citizen. Being so, I think its better than everything they've done so far. Blows anything on Youth out of the water.

Ok, guys we have got to stop using the term shoegaze to describe anything with the slightest bit of reverb or lower mixed vocals on it. This is not shoegaze, it's not even close to it. I'm not even a big fan of that genre, nor am I stickler for labels but it's just getting really annoying to see people using the term improperly. It's like anything that's come out in the past year with maybe a bit of feedback or some delay and a chorus pedal on the guitar and everyone is going "So shoegaze!" or "This is totally 90's!" Listen to a band like Nothing or Whirr or maybe even Cloakroom (Cloakroom has some shoegaze influences, but are a good bit heavier). Those are some new bands doing the shoegaze thing. Then there's the classics like My Bloody Valentine or Slowdive. That's what shoegaze actually sounds like, not this. If you're going to put a label on this type of sound, it's very much post-hardcore/emo or punk. It has much more in common with bands late 80's and early 90's alternative and post-hardcore scene than it does with Shoegaze. More over, it's just good rock music. Please, I'm begging you guys, stop using shoegaze to describe everything Will Yip produces. Title Fight, Balance And Composure, Citizen, Circa Survive, Tigers Jaw, Superheaven; they are NOT shoegaze bands haha.

I listen to shoegaze friend aha I have plenty of knowledge of the genre so you can stop being a dick about it. And there are definite shoegaze elements to this song IN MY OPINION such as the dissonance of the background guitars. And this is definitely industrial rock sounding such as early nine inch nails and some BN Daisy references throughout, so if you were to piece it apart it very well could be a mixture of both genres. Again, In My Opinion.

Heard these guys for the first time a couple weeks ago in minneapolis opening up for Circa Survive with RX bandits. I wasnt sure what to think of them they looked like some old scrubby guys wearing dirty t shirts and baseball caps down over their eyes and their live guitars sounded like shit (which was part of their appeal to me). But they opened up with this bass line, and when played live it kinda hits you like "holy shit." Thats really what stuck with me in my head
