Cities: Skylines, 0% Tax City...

Cities: Skylines - the 0% Tax City - a challenge I have long avoided since it looked implausible. Thanks to "unconventional" modern fiscal strategies, now you can have a city that simply doesn't tax its population.

@@theakbars98 ...The tiny microstate that was desolved in 1826?
I was shooting heroin and reading “The Fountainhead” in the front seat of my privately owned police cruiser when a call came in. I put a quarter in the radio to activate it. It was the chief. “Bad news, detective. We got a situation.” “What? Is the mayor trying to ban trans fats again?” “Worse. Somebody just stole four hundred and forty-seven million dollars’ worth of bitcoins.” The heroin needle practically fell out of my arm. “What kind of monster would do something like that? Bitcoins are the ultimate currency: virtual, anonymous, stateless. They represent true economic freedom, not subject to arbitrary manipulation by any government. Do we have any leads?” “Not yet. But mark my words: we’re going to figure out who did this and we’re going to take them down … provided someone pays us a fair market rate to do so.” “Easy, chief,” I said. “Any rate the market offers is, by definition, fair.” He laughed. “That’s why you’re the best I got, Lisowski. Now you get out there and find those bitcoins.” “Don’t worry,” I said. “I’m on it.” I put a quarter in the siren. Ten minutes later, I was on the scene. It was a normal office building, strangled on all sides by public sidewalks. I hopped over them and went inside. “Home Depot™ Presents the Police!®” I said, flashing my badge and my gun and a small picture of Ron Paul. “Nobody move unless you want to!” They didn’t. “Now, which one of you punks is going to pay me to investigate this crime?” No one spoke up. “Come on,” I said. “Don’t you all understand that the protection of private property is the foundation of all personal liberty?” It didn’t seem like they did. “Seriously, guys. Without a strong economic motivator, I’m just going to stand here and not solve this case. Cash is fine, but I prefer being paid in gold bullion or autographed Penn Jillette posters.” Nothing. These people were stonewalling me. It almost seemed like they didn’t care that a fortune in computer money invented to buy drugs was missing. I figured I could wait them out. I lit several cigarettes indoors. A pregnant lady coughed, and I told her that secondhand smoke is a myth. Just then, a man in glasses made a break for it. “Subway™ Eat Fresh and Freeze, Scumbag!®” I yelled. Too late. He was already out the front door. I went after him. “Stop right there!” I yelled as I ran. He was faster than me because I always try to avoid stepping on public sidewalks. Our country needs a private-sidewalk voucher system, but, thanks to the incestuous interplay between our corrupt federal government and the public-sidewalk lobby, it will never happen. I was losing him. “Listen, I’ll pay you to stop!” I yelled. “What would you consider an appropriate price point for stopping? I’ll offer you a thirteenth of an ounce of gold and a gently worn ‘Bob Barr ‘08’ extra-large long-sleeved men’s T-shirt!” He turned. In his hand was a revolver that the Constitution said he had every right to own. He fired at me and missed. I pulled my own gun, put a quarter in it, and fired back. The bullet lodged in a U.S.P.S. mailbox less than a foot from his head. I shot the mailbox again, on purpose. “All right, all right!” the man yelled, throwing down his weapon. “I give up, cop! I confess: I took the bitcoins.” “Why’d you do it?” I asked, as I slapped a pair of Oikos™ Greek Yogurt Presents Handcuffs® on the guy. “Because I was afraid.” “Afraid?” “Afraid of an economic future free from the pernicious meddling of central bankers,” he said. “I’m a central banker.” I wanted to coldcock the guy. Years ago, a central banker killed my partner. Instead, I shook my head. “Let this be a message to all your central-banker friends out on the street,” I said. “No matter how many bitcoins you steal, you’ll never take away the dream of an open society based on the principles of personal and economic freedom.” He nodded, because he knew I was right. Then he swiped his credit card to pay me for arresting him.

@@SALEENS7GTR5 Don’t want her?! 🤬 What’s wrong with her?! She’s beautiful, she’s rich, she’s got yuuuuuuuge… … … Tracts of land!
This style showing the cities that went wrong is good. When you just do the best city of looks like there weren't any effort because we don't know how hard it is.
Thank you now i can just show this video instead of explaining every time to the idiots who think we should have no taxes.
Great work! You did such a good job with that city!
0% tax city: achieved! And all it took was an immense toll on our physical and psychological well-being. (Just try to ignore the smoking crater at the edge of town)
Can’t wait for my city to adopt this system so no more taxes! Already bought a season pass to the amusement park and moved right next door to our city landfill 😊
Your videos always entertain and make me laugh. I often do wonder how many hours you put into making these though...
Wow! This was thought provoking! :) Thanks for sharing !
You're definitely my favourite city building amphibian

Godzilla is my favourite city unbuilding amphibian.
"Should we program a scenario in which walking to and from work is higher than the wages the person will make?"
Bro literally predicted the fires in Hawaii (August 2023)
I can't help but feel all the efforts to make money in this attempt actually are basically just taxation though hahaha.
Its almost like taxes and government are... NECESSARY... or... SOMETHING?!?
"Thereby Doubling out monthly tax income" - Wait a minute.
This video is the perfect embodiment of "there's always a catch" 😂
The chaos in this video us amazing and I'm here for it, I'm gonna watch another video and probably subscribe, love this kind of content
I love the commentary on these videos so much--just the deadpan delivery cracks me up every single time
The dirt road parts had me laughing a lot 😂

It is realistic, nobody wants to pay for a road, but everybody needs a road.

Fail, it was all centrally planned 😂😂
I once ruined one of my cities by kicking out all the residents by cutting off services and raising taxes, then managed to fund the remains of the massive ghost town with a fishing industry, despite no longer getting any tax money. Was pretty goofy X3
This is a really good video. And while posting this comment costed me 200$, I paid them out of my own free will. Truly the most evolved societal system of them all
Truly genius play indeed. Well played AA, well played.
This is why we need a crowd funding mod but I'm too dumb to know how to code it. There are a few mods that add supercheap services buildings, generally designed for Ancient, Roman and fantasy styles. Those actually work to cut costs.
Building mandatory toll roads everywhere in a city sounds like taxes lol

You've got me on a management game kick! I want to give this game a try despite it being a little overwhelming for me. Thanks for inspiring me!

Well companies don’t want to be in such a place except that they want to have their office there.

My favorite part was when you slowly lose your sanity and the music descends into madness.
Ah, yes, good to see that parks are still perfectly balanced. In all seriousness, I love these kind of videos. Keep up the good work, aa.
Best roads in Libertarian land are dirt 😂
Excelent editing and camera movement 👌
I'm shocked the crematorium is so expensive in this game since burning large numbers of bodies is so cheap and feasible while fighting a multi front war without any fuel (with people that refuse to pay the entrance fee at the quadruple amusement park road in of course.) Minor gripe, probably nothing.
My sincerest compliments, Mr. Amphibian. A fabulous job, as always. I would expect no less from your masterwork.
I laughed so hard at the solution in the end 🤣
I've actually been wondering about implementing Libertarianism in Cities: Skylines. Great work!
