I still remember when I was like 9 years old and saw this particular scene in television as I said goodnight to my parents. For years I thought this was Spider-Man but for some reason I never saw a scene like this in any Spider-Man movie. I thought maybe I just remembered the scene wrong but I was confused as I still had clear memory of what I saw. It was until today that I thought my memory was wrong. I'll be honest, having read the book series, it felt like I got Percy Jackson'd, Eragon'd and Artemis Fowl'd. 😭 This movie also replaced the love interest from the books (who was a woman of color, Debbie Hemlock) with the monkey girl Rebecca... Did not sit right with me. I missed Debbie. 🥺

uh.. yes you were right... it was not faithful... at all to the books. considering how inaccurate it became impossible to make a sequel to it considering that they skipped 3 books with one single scene and added scenes that weren't even in the book... like this scene. this movie was hogwash garbage. you want a better and more accurate depiction of the story, read the manga
