The cats were given treats during the show, they were being friendly which meant they weren't at all uncomfortable or mad. As you can see sometimes they didn't even do the tricks cause they simply didn't want to. Their tails were up the whole time which meant they felt confident and happy, and they were well groomed and fit

These cats must love their owners! They wouldn't do it if they didn't. And the are really gentle with them! So they are NOT abused! Cats would never do something like this without wanting to do it, and the are getting treats everyone is having fun there :3.

Shadowlight Serious question. Does that go the same way with bears? Many circus bears are said to be abused and are motivated by fear to perform. They say the bears think the trainers are their parents so they’re willing to obey. Cause I assume that’s not the same with cats as cats are motivated by treats and good attention. Wouldn’t it also be either or? Are bear brains are wired different than cats? These are serious questions that I want serious answers.

​@@yelloe I know that certain "tricks" were forced on bears with pain. Similar to dressage of horses that often involves pain. Certain performances though are simply impossible to train with force and especcially cats do not respond to pain or fear at all.

That breed of cat is a Turkish angora and they love to be active and play around so to them those tricks are fun activities they like to do. If a cat doesn't want to do it then the would lay down and refuse these cats love the attention so this is not abuse they are getting treats. There fur is nicely groomed and shiny. They all around look happy and healthy THERES NO ABUSE!!

Anyone who has ever owned cats (I have 3) knows that if they don't want to do something......they won't do it. They look healthy and happy to me just looking at their body language. An abused cat will NEVER perform tricks of any kind. I enjoyed this for the sheer pleasure of someone showing how intelligent felines are.

These are Turkish Angora cats, otherwise known as "the border collies of the feline world". They love activity, most adore human companionship and interaction, and they are highly intelligent. Like border collies, they can become depressed and destructive when bored, so they make ideal performers. To these cats, this is playtime. Performing regularly likely keeps them more relaxed and happy when they are at home. No one should ever get a Turkish Angora if they don't intend to interact with it as much as they would a high energy dog.

My four cats have taught me lots of tricks.

Those cats do not look unhealthy. A cat will not do anything it does not want to do. I know a guy with 8 tigers. He's had them their entire lifves. They were abandoned. He trained them based on what they like to do. Some days some of the big kitties do not want to d a damn thing, other days they love to show off, and they quit when they feel like it. Interestingly in all those years, he has never been hurt or attacked, He respects they are wild, huge animals. He feeds them really well. They cuddle with him. He would never be cruel to his tigers. He wish they could survive on their own, but they do not have the skills to be successful. Instead of being solitary like most tigers are, they prefer lying in a group, and they often will lie on top of him. He did not train them as much as they trained him.

I will certainly have to step up my game. I don’t like climbing so high. It makes me nervous.

Sally Patterson if cats do not want to do something they simply won't do it. They will cower in a corner or hide. These types of cats are very active and full of energy so this is like a play session to them.

Sally Patterson The cats are likely totally aware of the arrangement. They perform; they get to live a life of pampered luxury. There’s no way these cats don’t get the best of care considering they are the livelihood of their trainers.

I don't think there is anything wrong with animals performing, as long as they are well taken care of and giving loving homes after they retire. Those cats looked like they were having fun! Unfortunately, the industry is prone to animal abuse, though I don't see why it has to be. :-/

I have been seeing people cry about animal abuse lately. To set the record straight, it doesn't matter much about how exotic the animal is, animals and humans can perfectly get along. First of all, every wild animal has a deep instinct that knows food is extremely hard to come by. To have a human be in control of their dietary needs is like the most luxurious heaven you can think of to them. Every animal also has an instinct of love and need to be nurtured to be happy (humans also have this but we love to manipulate each others emotions by being a control freak as a result of pride and disrespect, if we did not have it they would be unable to manipulate us to begin with) humans are like a parent to any animal because of our developed frontal lobes, which enables us to be the ultimate care giver. Now that is , If, we chose to be that way. Many people think they are giving care, but they create rules to harm the animal, thinking that they are being logical, but instead are just proving to be controlling and manipulative, again this all goes back to being a prideful stubborn species. So there are probably many more people proving to be of this kind, But, we can see in this new age how lions are hugging humans and rare things that show, it truly is possible to interact with animals on this level, and if we truly take care of the animal, the animal would choose to be enclosed in a sanctuary rather than to be released into the wild.

They looked well groomed, their fur looks very silky meaning they must be eating. They aren't sickly looking, what abuse is here? To train an animal (especially a cat), you need patience and love for the animal. Please go buy a dictionary.

Raychu You're absolutely correct. These cats are probably incredibly happy. My cat does a few tricks. Not a Ton. But she begs me to play tricks with her. She does the riding and walking on shoulder thing, fetches a ball, etc. I have a happy cat that loves to atleast try to do tricks. These cats i'm sure are completely happy and love the owner

The cats are treated nicely, they were being friendly, their fur looked nicely groomed, and in good condition, they were fit, not too skinny or overweight, and their tails were up which means they feel happy. this is NOT abuse
