Circa Paleo - The Kiss (The Gael) @ Renaissance Pleasure Faire, Irwindale
This was my first Ren Faire, and what a pleasant surprise that Circa Paleo was there! I had just found out about this music group about a week before the Faire, while looking for videos of live performances of "The Gael", and Circa Paleo's videos showed up.
The group members are all very talented and friendly; not only did I get a beautiful treat for my ears, they all kindly met me after the performance and autographed my album! :) It was a pleasure to meet them all!
I wish the recording was done better. I unfortunately don't have a proper camera, so this was recorded on my Samsung Galaxy II. Oh well, I suppose it could have been worse!
This song is called "The Kiss"; originally titled "The Gael" and composed by Dougie MacLean, this tune was immortalized when it was adopted for use in the classic film "The Last of the Mohicans", and remains one of my all-time favorites!
Hope you enjoy it as much as I did! Remember to check out Circa Paleo's website and give them your adoration and support!

Jenny is my violin teacher and she is the absolute best instructor on the instrument. Highly recommended! She has an excellent online school.

I think that when she retires the world will have lost probably the best violinist of our time, she is so good that she makes it look effortless.
I can watch her performance a 1000 times.

Beautiful. From a great movie
I don't care what they play at my funeral, but I hope I carry the happy memory of everything this lovely elfin girl reveals and hides above and below her belt, especially her cheeky smile and wonderful musical talent. Thank you for being Peace
Every time she plays that song, she puts so much feeling into it. Awesome!!!
I so enjoy Celtic music, not only fot the happiness it brings one's soul, but the strength it simultaneously creates as well!

I supposed I have listened to Jenny O'Conner play "The Gael" dozens of times on her violin (accompanied with her talented fellow musicians) and every time, without fail, it raises goose bumps on my skin. I have also heard other musicians play the song, but her rendition is special. The only other comparable rendition, to my ear, is that by the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards, but perhaps that is because of my Scottish ancestry! But, my dog doesn't appreciate the bagpipes!
I have listened to her perform this song 1000 times, and each & every time it is perfection 👍🏻
Takes me to a different dimension. Music is nature’s gift for humanity irrespective of geographic boundaries and nationalities.

That’s because it bypasses the mind and goes to the soul and sometimes deep into your spirit. Shalom.
I do not get tired of hearing this beautiful piece, it is very soothing and calming.
I took part in the original, California Renaissance Pleasure Faire for 20 years beginning in 1978, and I don't know why they bother calling it a "Renaissance Faire" anymore. It should be called a Fantasy Faire. But I'm grateful that at least the proper credit is given to Dougie MacLean on his video.
How I wish to turn my years back, to meet people like this in my youth. Ty
I had the pleasure of attending this fair with a beautifully wonderful girl forty years ago. Thanks for the memory April.

I attended the first Faire in the early 60’s but I was too young to have a beautiful wonderful girl accompanying me.
35 seconds in and I got full-body goosebumps! This is an amazing version of a piece I never get tired of hearing,

I love this piece and the melodies of Last of the Mohicans but the sound track was a disappointment with the electronic music instead of instruments.
Brings a grown man to tears.
Sooo beautiful and soul stirring!
Wow. A perfect rendition from the movie. Just stunned at her talent
Does that group give meaning to music or what! They just take your heart!

For her to start so late in life and become a professional violinist - we just don't often see that. The proof is in the sound 🎶🎵🎶

Amazingly talented woman!
True mastery looks effortless to watch!
Purist version of the kiss from Mohicans. Almost feels as if I am behind the ramparts of Fort William Henry during the siege.
Merci pour ce beau moment..👍👍👍😘❤️❤️❤️😍🤩😄
She sure puts the pleasure in pleasure faire! Talented and beautiful!
An unforgettable scene among many in “The Last of the Mohicans”. Well played.
Her moniker 'The Hot Violinist' has several very obvious meanings. Jenny O'Conner plays wonderful violin but she's also a lovely woman and lovely to look at. A great performance as always.
This was spectacular! As a fan of Renfaire and this music in general, you really knocked it out of the park!
Oh!!! How much I've missed the Renaissance Faire.
Amazing what beauty and sound the sunshine brings us! I’m alive! 👏

I attended the RPF in Cali in 1993. Probably the best Ren Fest I've been to.
Oh man why did I get choked up listening to this??? I didn't really watch the vid, she plays masterfully though. I found my mind playing through the image of Hawkeye, his father and brother running up the mountain path... a song of battle, blood spilled, and forever heart ache. I need to rewatch this movie ASAP.

That’s a Violin not a Fiddle. But yes she is incredible, I’ve heard other versions before and they don’t even come close to how flawless and seamless she plays. Truly it is a gift. You can’t really teach a person to play this way , every cord is part of her soul and literally puts you in a trance like state.
