Nikon Z6, Nikon Z 24-70 f/2.8 S, Atomos Ninja V, Tascam TM-2X, DJI Ronin S, Sony WH-H900N is the favorite Rig of choice as apposed to the Sony PXW-Z280.

How does uhd compare to cinematic foot z6 only produces 1920x1080 3160

Will we be able to record in 60 fps into the ninja in the future from the z6 ii? I noticed atomos released a new ninja.

According to this fairly in depth review of Z6 the ability to write out a Atomos recorder is exclude of the XQD card - at least for N-Log - but may allow for 8/10 bit.. unclear and the blogger mentions a “bug” which may have been updated? Holy I had to spend over $150 to get the Atomos HDMI cable in order to record 10bit nLog. Didn't come with the pkg.

Does anybody know if I have to send my Nikon Z6 to the factory for a software update in order to record ProRes files (which costs about $200) OR the camera is ready to go as it is with the latest firmware update?

Hi Carlos - In order to upgrade your Z 6 to output ProRes RAW and Blackmagic RAW footage directly from the image sensor to a compatible external capture device, you'll need to ship your camera in. You can find out more information here: bit.ly/3widSwd but let us know if you have any questions!

As usual, we in Canada seem to be getting ripped off. The Ninja V is more expensive and doesn't include the HDMI cable and other items that you list your video. I purchased the ninja HDMI cable which didn't include any spec text confirming that it is in fact usable for recording 4k video. With the setup that you describe it doesn't allow me to record using my Z6 record button. Recording only works when using the Ninja record button. If you click on the input trigger it starts recording. I suspect that some of my issues are most likely due to the HDMI cable. When the display drops out the input camera settings are gone and have to be re-selected. I would classify the Ninja V as a toy. By the time that you buy the SSD, batteries and gimbal, you are better off buying a pro-sumer video camera. I can recommend the Sony PXW-Z90 which records internal 10bit 4k 422. Shame on Ninja for not producing a better product. It would have been nice if it supported more camera's. SDI out would have been nice if were to have been included in my package.

Which length of HDMI cable should you use?

HDMI cables come in a variety of lengths, so you’ll want to pick the one that supports your setup and content capture needs. However, we recommend utilizing a cord with ample length to allow the camera and accessories to be connected safely and securely.

Can you control AF from the ninja v monitor?

Hi there - you’ll continue to control your autofocus modes and key settings through your Z series camera rather than through the Atomos Ninja V. If you do want external control for AF and other key functions, we suggest checking out the MC-N10 remote grip.

I’m just a bit nervous.... The Z lens don’t work with any remote focus option and I was hoping that Eye Focus would mitigate that shortcoming... but that came out for Stills! In retrospect, it made sense that the technology for video would be infinitely more challenging... but it was a firmware update that did not deliver for a “Filmmaker” Kit and pulling Focus is still a matter of Luck! Not skill.

Does using N-Log require using higher ISO minimums?

You will be at minimum 800 ISO with N-Log

Hi Spencer! Yes, when using N-Log, your ISO sensitivity can be set anywhere from ISO 800 to ISO 25600 (on the Z 7) or 51200 (on the Z 6).

Please enable external recording for 60 fps 4k

I'm been having a really hard time getting the video from the Nikon Z6 to be exposed correctly on the Ninja. It's like they are on different planets, and there is very little information about actually getting these two pieces to work together. Is there a better site to go to trouble shoot this issue. Frankly, I feel like this is taking too long to figure out and Nikon and Atmos left out some pretty important information for users. This is frustrating.

We suggest checking out pages 348-350 of the Z 6 Reference Manual to make sure all your settings are ones that are supported by your Ninja. Is Shinobi compatible with Z6 for n log?

The Atomos Shinobi is compatible with the Nikon Z 6 as a monitor only, it has no recording capabilities and cannot be used with the 10-bit N-Log feature.

Nope! But why would anyone want to? If you are doing throw-away video (even if for social media) you shoot XQD (or, as most people do, use your Smart and not bother with downloading and uploading) but if you want to EDIT you use the Ninja for Post Processing.

I don’t like the fact that a monitor is required to unlock the advanced features. Hopefully this doesn’t happen with the next camera.

The customers able use S-log directly without require extend device on Sony camera. Why Nikon's technology make customers paid more to use n-log it too expensive and innecessary. Look like Nikon corp dont want attemp camera market. I used Nikon cameras for long time (D40 D90 D300s D700 D810 and now Z6) but have to say "I am quit and begin with Sony cameras"
