Cinema Paradiso Reactions | Ennio Morricone |

Ойын-сауық

For some of us it was the first time seeing Cinema Paradiso on the big screen. This is one of my favourite movies of all time. Ennio Morricone's score evokes a feeling connected to the scene.
The movie takes place in Southern Italy, a few years after World War 2, in a village where the only entertainment is the cinema, which was highly regulated by the Catholic church.
Toto who is very clever and cheeky boy, who adores movies, he befriends the village projectionist Alfredo, who becomes a father figure for young Toto. It's a beautiful coming to age story, that is timeless and heartfelt.
I never saw Cinema Paradiso on the big screen, the first time I saw it was in 9th grade.
Seeing it on the big screen is a big treat. Between interviews, I throw in clips of the film.

I can't get over this film!!!! It's 110% nostalgia for me!!!! Maybe some people will not identify with it and not feel the same way because they didn't grow up going to the cinema but I absolutely love it!!!!!

Probably the best movie ever made. The music, Mr, Philipe Noiret, the story, the purity of the film and fhat ending with all the old kissing scenes. Un film sans faute!

Actually, the shorter film - the one that is best known and DOESN'T tell you all the answers - is the edited one. The director shortened the original movie twice because the test audiences didn't seem to like it with all the answers thrown in and also because of how long it was. The edited version, which ends with the adult Toto watching the movie montage, became an instant hit. It won the Academy Award for best foreign film and also the Cannes Film festival where it received the longest standing ovation in Cannes Festival history up to that time as well as a HUGE number of awards from around the world. I tell people to NOT see the longer version (with all the questions answered) because it ruins the effect of the ending of the first movie. It's like painting a mustache on a perfect Mona Lisa. After it became famous they released the longer version, the originally intended version, just to make more profit.

I think both versions are fantastic in their own right, but I remember being super excited when i found the unedited version because the edited version left me feeling like something was missing, but it was still magical nonetheless. Thanks for your comment :)
