Cinderella - Shake Me!/Nobody´s Fool (First Single 1984)

Музыка

Michaela vystřídal Jeff LaBar a Tonyho Fred Coury.
This is the first recording of the band and with the first line-up. (Tom Keifer, Eric Brittingham, Michael Schermick and Tony Destra) So the Heavy/Glam metal that Cinderella used to play can still be heard on the single. The reverberations still reached the first album Night Songs, which was released two years later. The lineup has changed on her, except for Tom and Eric. Michael was replaced by Jeff LaBar and Tony by Fred Coury. He didn't drum on the record yet, but he was already in the band. However, his drums can only be heard on the third album Heartbreak Station. In the meantime, Michael and Tony formed a fairly successful and similar Britney Fox band. But Tony did not live to see greater success. He died at the beginning of the recording of the first album.
For the duration of the first song, I alternated photos of this single with the band's first music video for Shake Me! from 1983

Yes, mine too. Have you heard this recording? And how do you like these versions of the songs? I think they look better here. Especially how it starts nicely at the end of the song Nobody's Fool

What a shame the songs were changed. Without keyboards they are way more rocking.

I guess I can understand why. I really like that heavy and dirty sound. The first recording is missing. But they wanted to get further from this sound.

Early Cinderella was much heavier than what they ended up being

It is so. I recommend listening to the demo recordings. This is proper sounding Heavy/Glam metal. They didn't sound like that anymore, even though you can still feel it a little on the first record, but there is a cleaner sound and the guitars are not so heavy. So it sounds more like Hard/Glam Rock than Heavy/Glam Metal

Michael Kelly Smith is such an awesome guitarist. I’m not sure why he was sacked from Cinderella but he’s had a good gig with Britny Fox and done some mind blowing guitar work. Jeff Labar was also terrific

Thanks for posting. I didn't understand why the record company wanted a new guitar player and drummer, but hearing this, I think ultimately it was the right decision. And if it didn't happen we wouldn't have had Britny Fox, so there's that.

It's hard to say why that was. We can ask a similar question about Fred, why he did not record the drums on the second record, but the legendary Cozy Powell and Denny Carmassi. No less, at least the Britney Fox ones appeared. I don't think they're as good as Tom's band, but thanks for them anyway.
