For the Practical Experience, does it have to be with a registered CIMA-accredited company or is it experience where you have/currently working in accounting? As for South-African qualifications, we can only do 3-year articles with registered companies that are registered with the South-African Professional bodies.

The practical experience doesn't need to be just accounting. If you have other examples of work experience that show the same skill then you can use these also. I would make sure the majority of your experience is accounting based however.Hope this helps!

Hey Craigo, I just cleared my OCS exam in Nov'22, and now I'm preparing for MCS exam, but I had two questions: A) Since I have completed my OCS exam, am I of some value to organisations even if I didn't pursue CIMA further levels? B) If I have taken a one year subscription, then do I have to repay a re attempt fees for sitting in next attempt?

Hey mate - congrats on the OCS! Of course you're still a value to the organisation. A person in Finance without any qualification would still be considered valuable. I've seen it where some of the best employees haven't progressed through any of CIMA. Do you mean a 1 year subscription for FLP? If so, I'm not completely sure but if I were to guess, I would suspect you'll get one free attempt and then have to pay for re-sits! Thanks! Craig

I have passed F3 paper. Need to pass E3 and P3. Upon enquiry, i came to know that i would have to sit just strategic case study. Would u recommend this pathway?

If you can sit the SCS then do so. However you will need F3 & E3 too, so i would probably recommend you just sit all of them, completely your choice though!

I don't understand why I get fewer exemptions with the FLP route (start at the Management level) vs the self-tailored learning path (start at Management case study) I'm confused about where to start.

Yes a Masters will give you exemptions & alot of them will give you up until the Management Case Study. It could help to fast track you. Completely up to you :)

Unfortunately I have no understanding of India education system to advise if you can enroll on FLP, sorry!

I am currently going to continue with managerial level and when i contacted CIMA Sri lanka they told me to continue with FLP programme rather than going through re registration all over again, When i contacted my tuition provider they also told to continue with 1 yr subscription and i will be done with the qualification. FLP Seems to be a cost effective pathway and i want to know can we do it within a year?is it realistic?

I haven’t got any direct experience with FLP. But what I would say is that CIMA tell you that you can, then you can. As far as I’m aware you should be able to achieve one year per module, and therefore reach CGMA in 3 years :) of course, subject to passing the case studies!

Absolutely - you get the same designation at the end. I highly doubt an employer will mind what route you proceed to obtain it :)

CIMA are saying it does, but put yourself in the employers position. Someone who passed 12 exams would be more desirable than someone that passed 3 for the same certificate

@@korina62 No It matters no, I focus on the candidate who shows an understanding of theory and can evidence application but through experience. Passing 50 exams with no application in the real world means nothing for me. I want troops who have actually been in a ring not merely dreamt about it.

@@phenyomolefe4162 I agree that experience is probably as important as the qualification, but that's not the question, let's say you have 2 candidates, both have similar experience, one got CIMA the "old fashioned" way and one took this "easier" route, which one would you hire? I understand people come as a package, but the route of study is part of that package.

May I know if I am at the strategic level, but cannot completed within one year (paid 1 year subscription), so is it I need to subscribe another year? Another scenario is if I am stuck at case study at the end of the subscription period, do I need to paid another year subscription until passing of case study? Appreciate if you could given me some advice, thanks

I would speak to CIMA about that one. Not entirely sure myself. I would recommend you do all within your power to get through the strategic level in one year. I would suspect that if you fail the case study then you wouldn’t need to pay a full year subscription just to resit, but that’s my assumption. 12 months should be plenty of time for one level.

If u planning to do job in India, go for Indian CA or CMA. CIMA is not widely accepted in India

I believe so, however if I was in your position then I wouldn’t bother all for the sake of 4 exams

Sir what will happen if FLP subscription expires and student does not renew it. And after some gap, again want to start FLP. Then, can he do so? What would the fees then?

I don't know this for sure but I assume if you continue to pay your CIMA student annual fee then you'll be okay. If you need to know this answer I would consult with CIMA directly.
