Thank you Eric! I think this is one of the best cigar video on the net. It doesn't teach tricks, it explains a concept and honestly I have never seen or heard such things with cigar boxes. Pure gold!

Awesome! Jay Gilligan has some really good talks and articles about his creative process, I think it fits really nicely with what I'm getting at in this tutorial.

@@EricBates yeah I have seen a lot of Jay's speeches and laboratories. My fav are the MRL series. However when I see how you apply your creative process on the cigar boxes, it gives the feeling that this creative process is almost obviously applicable. This really motivates me to explore and research but it also makes me understand that I need to built a natural feeling between me and the boxes (I'm still in the beginner phase). ;) I have a proposal for a tutorial; maybe not a good topic but I write it down anyway: cigar boxes maintenance: tapes, repairing, care and velcrum substitution, and all the rest...??? Or maybe there's no real maintenance. The only solution is just buying new ones? :D

Yo! Glad you caught that episode, that's a cool podcast. Handstand blocks would be super heavy for juggling, but maybe tissue boxes? I just found this tutorial, maybe you could bust out a little quarantine project: kzread.info/dash/bejne/hKFkzq-zgq-vgMY.html

This one has definitely been my favorite so far, while I have done a bit of experimenting and working creatively, this really points the way towards directions I hadn’t really thought of going in myself. Thanks so much!

Maybe you’d be interested: I know of a juggling discord server with a little bit of a cigar box community that’s gradually growing, people there post some videos of themselves and talk about related stuff.

Eric Bates ha, I’m not too surprised, discord is a site or app used for all sorts of stuff, and the various servers can be used to talk to people about whatever interests you might have, so a juggling server would be based around talking to and sharing with other jugglers

There are plenty of other sites and places that work similarly, but this is the only one I know of with at least a bit of a boxes community, though there’s probably others out there

Really good video. It is something that I am rather used to because I started before you made your first tutorials in a small youth circus. but still something I would love to see more of. I destroyed one of my boxes today... Which ones do you use and how often/have you ever destroyed yours?
