The monster seems to be a reflection of herself; in Underwater, you can see Chuu's shadow looks like this monster. So at first she's afraid the monster, but later, she finds that the monster is nothing to be afraid of, and comes to love it. Knowing the song lyrics and that this likely has to do with her journey from leaving BBC to starting out on her own, the monster might represent the pain and fear that she felt, which almost consumed her at first, but later on, she found strength in that pain and used it to push herself through the dark times. At the end of the MV it seems like she's waving goodbye to the monster and the pain it represents; she couldn't have gotten to the beach, her place of happiness, without it.
