Yea, she planted the Chucky doll, hence why the woman running the yard sale didn't know where it came from; just assuming it was her daughter's doll.

Fun fact: In the Chucky script, Chucky caused a fire at the woman’s house, who then decided to get rid of him because she sensed some sort of odd synchronization between chucky and the fire.
