Chuck E. Cheese Rochester, New York Now

After about 20 years of operation, the Rochester, New York CEC on Hylan Drive permanently closed on June 25th. This is the 3rd CEC to close in Rochester with the other two being Penfield in September 1996 and the old Greece location two months later. The current Greece store is the only CEC left in Rochester and they are 2.0 😕 They actually closed 5 days before their 20th anniversary, sucks they couldn’t reach their 20th anniversary but they were closing regardless. Hylan closed on the same day CEC filled for Chapter 11 bankruptcy and a bunch of other CEC stores throughout the country closed that day as well, including the Amherst, NY store. With Hylan Drive, Amherst, and New Hartford’s closures this year, there are barely any more stages left in upstate NY 😢. So yeah pretty sad news.
I wanna remind everyone that CEC stores are still closing and CEC is still bankrupt. A lot of CEC’s, restaurants, and stores in general are still struggling from this pandemic so please support your local stores!
I first visited Hylan Dr in August 2013 and it was the first Phase 5 store I visited just a year after rockstar was introduced and a few months after the remodel was rolled out to a few stores. When I first pulled up to the CEC, I was not expecting to see new Chuck’s head on the exterior so that was a fun surprise! I really liked the alpha at this location and I also liked how Chuck’s red cap was sideways, it made it seem unique. Fast forward to November 2018 and my trip up to Rochester again for the first time in 5 years! The show has changed quite a bit now with Chuck’s cap removed, his cool chuck outfit replaced, and the curtains disabled. But it was still a cool store! I came back in March 2019 and filmed an update video for yt then came back a few times in Summer 2019, I think it was actually four times! That’s crazy to think I visited a CEC 5 hours away four times in one summer (didn’t visit Rochester for CEC btw lol). I’m actually glad I visited so much despite not knowing what would happen a year later. I visited Hylan Dr for the very last time on August 23, 2019 and stayed there for hours, filmed some songs, filmed a store tour, then left for the last time. It really feels like I knew it would close bc of how long I stayed, especially on my last visit, of course I did not know and we all had no idea covid would happen and close all our favorite stores. I was really sad when I got the news that this store closed bc it was one of my favorite stores despite being Phase 5 and I always loved to visit everytime I go up to Rochester. So RIP ROCHESTER CHUCK E CHEESE 2000 TO 2020 IT CLOSED AND IT WILL BE MISSED THANK YOU AND BE WELL

I just went to this Chuck E. Cheese store with my grandparents on Hylan Drive in Rochester, New York twice from 2015-2019 before this location closed in 2020 because Chuck E. Cheese filed for bankruptcy on my birthday last year. Now I have to go to the new location on Ridge Road West which is also in the Rochester, York area.
Wow, it's very cazy how chuck e cheese stores are shutting down. And it's crazy because I live in New York 😭
I went to that Chuck E Cheese's for 15 years of my life. I am now 19 and I go to college just outside of Rochester so I go by the area every day. I had no idea that it closed and was thinking of actually getting a job there. Unfortunately, that will never happen. My favorite games were the basketball game, skee-ball, and the football game (The one marked with blue tape). I would love to acquire one of those games for memory but I don't have much money. I couldn't believe that this place closed down, but I understand why. We stopped going to it in 2018 because the games were all for little kids and there were better places. Still, I had so many memories there and I went there about 120 times in my childhood. Can't believe that I'm seeing games that I touched just 4 years ago are being shipped away to be forgotten about.

Maybe you can call the landlord and ask if you can maybe help clean out the store and see if u can get the basketball game. All of it is no longer owned by CEC and the landlord owns it so you can see

This was a epic store a gamers dream to own and a cec collectors dream

So sad I remember it was discovery zone at one point then it closed and I was the first birthday party when this location opened on June 30th 2000
When I moved away from new London Connecticut I moved to Rochester ny in 1999 when I was 7 and I went to this chuck e chesse in 2000

Yeah, they got super lazy now. Union was cleared out in a little less than a week. Rochester has been closed for two months now lol

Only way you could possibly get it is if you call the landlord and see if they would be nice enough to give one to you but even then you’d have to go there and get it yourself.

Lease to the building expired and CEC decided not to renew it because they was going to file for C11BP anyways. The employees were most likely given a job offer to work at the CEC in Greece but I highly doubt they took up the offer as the Greece location is located on the other side of Rochester. No, the store did not relocate.

Their lease likely expired and yes they closed due to the bankruptcy

They got really lazy. They are supposed to clear it out in the first week but it’s been two months lol. Also, they WERE planning on reopening but ended up permanently closing.

They’ve lost so many stages they barely have any animatronic stages left 😔
They should've also just closed Greece because when you think about it nobody from Penfield, Henrietta, and southeastern Rochester is gonna travel all the way the way to Greece, which is on the other side of Rochester, for a Chuck E Cheese. Ya, maybe the CEC Enthusiasts will be willing to make that type of travel but regular parents won't even chance it. They'd just go somewhere else. CEC really needs to think through closing and opening locations.

Greece is doing fine and operates more business than Hylan did, if ppl from those areas really wanna go to CEC (doubt it tho lol) they’ll make the drive (plus this is the only store in the area). Stores close when the lease expires and they don’t feel they are making enough money to extend it.
