Chubby Checker - The Twist (Official Music Video)
Музыка
Celebrate the 60th anniversary of "The Twist" with new commemorative releases:
abkco.lnk.to/chubbychecker
Follow the iconic dance craze that was "The Twist,” made famous by Chubby Checker from the sixties through today. “The Twist” first went to #1 on Billboard's Hot 100 Singles Chart in September of 1960. The music video incorporates footage of Chubby’s October 22, 1961 appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show in the wake of “The Twist” having again gone to #1 on the Hot 100 earlier that year, a feat never equaled in the decades that followed.
""The Twist"" by Chubby Checker
Composer: Hank Ballard
Come on, baby
Let's do the twist
Come on, baby
Let's do the twist
Take me by my little hand
And go like this
E-yah, twist
Baby, baby, twist
Ooh yeah, just like this
Come on, little miss,
And do the twist
My daddy is sleepin'
And mama ain't around
Yeah, daddy's just sleepin'
And mama ain't around
We're gonna a-twist, a-twist, a-twistin'
'Til we tear the house down
Come on and twist
Yeah, baby, twist
Ooh yeah, just like this
Come on, little miss
And do the twist
E-yah
Yeah, you should see my little sis
You should see my, my little sis
She really knows how to rock
She knows how to twist
Come on and twist
Yeah, baby, twist
Ooh yeah, just like this
Come on, little miss,
And do the twist
Yeah
That's all right
Yeah, twist all night
Twist
('Round and 'round and 'round)

God bless this man. At 81 years of age, this living legend is STILL giving audiences the thrill of a lifetime!! "The Twist" has the sole recognition of being the ONLY RECORD EVER TO REACH #1 TWICE on the Billboard Hot 100 charts - both in 1960 AND 1962!!!! In 2008, Chubby's "Twist" was named "THE BIGGEST CHART HIT OF ALL TIME" by Billboard Magazine. To his own dismay, Ernest Evans (real name) was never elected into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, reducing that institution to little more than a meaningless farce. #rockandrollhalloffame

When I was a young teen me and my best friend went to see Chubby. It was so crowded so we were up by the stage. When he came out we could hardly breathe, he was so tall and handsome!! One of my best memories ❤❤
My mother who is 88years old with dementia listen now and said I must send a message to say thank you for this video
My Dad taught me the Twist when I was a kid
One of the reasons that I so cherish my friendship with my NINETY-SIX (96) YEAR-OLD friend Gene, are the glimpses that he provides me into History's past. When Gene was a boy growing up in Mississippi in the early 1940's, he and his mother had to scrub their clothes on a washboard to get them clean. In the 1940's when "Chubby Checker" saw his 1st automatic washing machine, it was REVOLUTIONARY! No longer would he have to toil at the washboard, getting less than ideal results. Chubby was tickled by the "twisting" motion that the machine made as it agitated the clothes in the soapy water. He laughed, "Won't you look at that thing TWIST!" And.. the rest is "Music History!" Knowing that Paul McCartney was a huge fan of Buddy Holly specifically and American Rock & Roll, in general, I guess that Chubby Checker's hit song inspired Paul & John to write "Twist & Shout."
LOVE YOU CHUBBY CHECKER! THE KING!

No music written today will be remembered by 14 year olds 63 years from now when they are 77. There are no golden oldies being sung today like Chubby Checker's twist was in 1960. I was 10 years old in 1960 and loved that song then and still do at 73.

@MrSuzuki1187 guess you and I are a like, not only the same age but like the same classic songs that we love.
As a big 7-3 still walking, talking, styling and profiling, I will say in many respects, this song set the stage for the 60's. Some trivia: President Kennedy did twist with Jackie for the cameras. I remember the fun of the 60's while twisting the night away~~~Rock on Brothers and Sisters
Whats great about the twist is that its a pretty straightforward and easy dance to pull off. Meaning everyone on the dance floor can pick it up in minutes and even put their own little spin on it if desired. Fun song and dance which is now pretty much iconic. The scene in Madmen with Peggy twisting toward Pete was televised perfection.
