After 36 years in the hobby, I have tried several different makers of Low Boots. My advise: save your money and buy the best boots you can afford. Shop around. I have a set of Bulgarian period low boots. Not perfect, as far as shape of the toe area, ei not shark nose, but they are correct in manufacture . I have yet to lose 1 hop nail, and they have not fallen apart. When you get a good pair, take care of them. Keep them clean and yes use snow seal on them. Put a little polish on them as well.

I have a pair of ATFs first run of low boots I bought in 2000. Strangely enough, they’re still soldiering on !

@@dergrenadier yes there is 2 version on the m47 the budget and the very good one, i have buy the one we found on Nestof at 260€ there are so good ! I use them frequently and I never lost a nail

I bought a pair of their jack boots and specified US size 11 though my actual foot size is 10.5 i know war time boots were not made in half sizes. I received them and though they are marked 11, they fit like a size 10 even after soaking and stretching them. My toes hit the ent of the boot making them uncomfortable to wear for long periods of time.

Chronicle is a disaster. The boots I bought have more or less fallen appart after I sold them.

@@dergrenadier my unit does an Oktober fest event just for us. It is a german semi formal event meant for build friendship and bonds between our members. I keep my boots shined and thats about all i use them for now.

@@dergrenadier I ordered their low boots just to see for myself and they look slightly improved from the ones in your video. Most noticeably is the heel support not folting over and made from a bit thicker leather

Get a Pair from WehrmachShoes or Nestof.

WH shoes has a very hard time delivering your order, nestof really depends on batch quality. Also has a wrong heel. Just get Berger or Sergey Yustas shoes

As a reenactor, I have a question forn you since my m37 has already been torn and the heels are missing and long gone. But then do WW1 ankle boots can be use for ww2 as well?

Using ww1 boots can be seen as a bandaid I guess. Don't pin me on it but maybe you could use your ww1 boots untill you get new repro's. Ask your group leader what he thinks about it. Most groups don't mind you using something similar for some events if you really don't have anything else yet.

What do you think about Fredericci Low boots? I am planning on getting a pair but I haven’t heard many reviews except for WWIIFreak saying they’re good.

Do not buy from them, they stop selling to commercial orders. They took a bunch of peoples money and ran. I ordered Jack food from them a year ago and never received them. Tons of reenactors have been having the same problem
