Where's the explanation of acute pancreatitis due to gallstones?
Not always about alcohol or fried foods. I do not drink and now have chronic pancreatitis. It's a pain I do not wish on anyone. I started getting it from Gallstones and had to get my gallbladder removed in 2003 and have been getting pancreatitis consistently since 2003. I hate flare ups and now I have chronic pancreatitis which is horrible often times because we know the pain but often times the enzyme levels will not reflect being up with chronic pancreatitis. The only thing they can do is hospitalized you, give you pain meds in the IV and relax your pancreas over a couple days hoping it hasn't gotten worse. My friend has it bad the pancreatitis started eating away at her pancreas. Where is the cure for this? Smh.

I have an autoimmune disease and stress causes flareups of acute-on-chronic pancreatitis. They never do anything for me and the pain is excruciating. It’s almost everyday. The hypocalcemia and hypoglycemia is causes is terrible. The hypocalcemia causes tetany, which is very painful, let me tell you!! I’ve never once received calcium by IV when I should have. 😢
I know there's no cure but a good treatment would be nice

From what I understand its mostly managed by taking enzymes with meals and eating smaller meals more often. If beta cells are damaged they might need insulin. If the pancreas becomes necrotic it may need to be removed. Obviously don’t drink alcohol as well.

I had a pancretectomy ( removal of pancreas and gallbladder) 5 1/2 years ago, I am a diabetic now but feel great and no more pain. I was chronic, father died of pancreatic cancer when I was 7. I’m now 65. my brother and I had a genetic test showing our gene activated, there are 5 children and no one else has problems. My pancreas was very bad. My brother is 72 and may be eligible for the whipple procedure.

You should all look into Nigella Sativa (also called Black Cumin or Black Seed). It contains an important agent called thymoquinone, which has routinely been shown to both reverse pancreatic cancer growth, but also reduce inflammation of the pancreas in a host of disease states.

@@leadnsteel1428 suicide is not the answer my friend. Try to spend time with family and friends and open up to them about your thoughts and feelings it can be a very healing process. You could also learn to love spending time with yourself, doing the things you most enjoy, get out and about and enjoy life, start a hobby and join a club. Realise that situations are not forever the girl you loved is married and if you learn to let go of what cannot be you will open your world to so many more opportunities, and eventually meet someone else who you fall for which has you looking back and thinking that you were obviously not in love like you thought, regardless this woman is off limits and a part of your past, look forward in life, and anticipate what the future will bring. Great video, very informative. However, being a sufferer of 9 attacks of acute pancreatitis, and now a 39-year-old woman with chronic pancreatitis and diabetes, I feel you should stress more that, while it may be the most common cause, not all patients are alcoholics, and it would be nice to not be faced with that judgement right out of the gate. I have experienced many doctors, nurses, and EMTs treating me with extreme prejudice without knowing my history. My bouts of acute pancreatitis are caused by a genetic lipid disorder. My triglycerides tend to increase, regardless of diet, until they are 4000+. I have needed numerous rounds of plasmapheresis. The problem for me lies in the eye-rolling and name-calling and the questioning of my husband, "what is she on?!" When you are in that MASSIVELY EXTREME PAIN, it's hard to explain your medical history. Please don't jump to conclusions. The tests will tell you if they asked for this or not. Just be professional in treating patients, that's all I ask.

Well holy f*ck, I just learned what bright future awaits me with my (genetically caused) chronic pancreatitis
@firecanfly
7 жыл бұрын
I know right! Besides getting the surgery done that removes the pancreas, gallbladder, and spleen and puts your eyelet cells in your liver there is not really anything that helps. I've gotten a few ERCP's to clear out the sludge in my ducts and put a stent in. They don't help with the pain at all but apparently they help the actual pancreas. My dad was diagnosed 20 years ago and there has been no change in progress except for finding the PRSS1 genetic mutation. That's how they finally diagnosed me and my sister. We just have to stay strong and learn to live with the pain. Which sucks...
@SirAzi01

@Andilena Miller as much as I appreciate the thought, I'm afraid a root that supposedly dilates blood vessels will not help a disintegrating pancreas, nor will it ease the pain
