I bought an Acer Chromebook about 7 years ago, and later discovered that (despite it being bought 'new') it was already a year into its update expiration time. Thanks for highlighting the Chromeboxes - I hadn't seen them before, and might well go for one when my 2017 second-hand iMac finally bites the dust.

Thanks for watching and commenting. The AUE has been an albatross with the Chromebooks since they appeared 10 years ago. It needs to be visible on the outside packaging since it starts when the computer was manufactured not purchased. This problem has mostly gone away with Google extending it to 10 years. The 10 year support is why I have decided to get a Chromebook Plus. Which depends a little of UK availability, but I like the look of the Lenovo Flex. Incidentally, is there any good reason for going for an i5 processor rather than the basic i3?@@TechforSenior

Thanks. I mostly use the Google suite of tools - I am not a gamer. I might want to do some basic video and image editing, however, that could be done at home using my iMac, so not vital.@@TechforSenior

Being a senior I've been looking into buying a Chromebook or Chromebox for the first time. I know how to use my cell phone so a Chromebook / Chromebox should be pretty easy. I'm over the Windows experience. I've had Windows since it first come out, did I mention I was an old senior, LOL. So I'm ready and excited about it. I've been looking up lots of video about them here on KZread, I'm even using the Chrome browser right now and I like it, wink.

Can I install an external drive to a Chromebook?

Can I install Chrome OS on a desktop that I have built? Instead of using a Chromebox or Chromebook? I want to get one with an ethernet port, I don't like wireless internet.

I really want a Chromebox, I don't move my pcs. I want a bigger screen than a laptop screen, I wear glasses. Do they have just as many Chromeboxes as Chromebooks? My laptop now was bought because I needed a computer right away, but I attached it to a 28" screen and added a mouse and keyboard to it. All I do is use Google Docs, Calc, email, KZread, surf the web, Netflix and I even use a CD reading for my music CDs and my DVD movies. I don't play video games, just Solitaire.
