Omg. This guy saved my life. If I would have saw his video from the beginning I would have been done in an hour or less. Do exactly what he did in this video. It's the best way to get the pipes over those plastic brackets. I almost gave up. This guy is my hero.

Shelf upside or down doesn’t matter? The black knot doesn’t seem fully locked?

You can bridge the shelves between groups of 4 posts (borrow 2 from each group).

Those plastic clips are utterly impossible to "click" closed while they're on the poles.

No. The shelf holes are tapered to fit down on the plastic clips. Flipping the shelves would make the tapering upside down so they would not fit properly on the plastic clips.
