When I was in highschool I bought a graphics card which happened to come with Civilization 4. I remember after installing and hitting the main menu I just sat there for a while and listened. We didn't really have KZread back then so I invited some of the guys from my wind symphonic class to listen that weekend and they were all obsessed. Needless to say we all bought Calling All Dawns thanks to this 1 song. Such a wonderful composition and a wonderful album. Still slaps in 2023

You know you’ve made a timeless song when people still comment and talk about it daily years after.

The fact that 12 years later this song is still in so many people's memory shows how truly remarkable it was. Great job!

A fact is, after 13 years, there's still someone that comes from civ 6, wondered and traveled across the sea of internet to pilgrim this masterpiece. And it seems, they're not alone.

_“What will your civilization stand for?”_ A question we should be asking ourselves now.

I do not speak Swahili, nor am I, Christian. I am, however, a human being, and thus I sing this song. My voice is weak and untrained, but in the chorus of humanity, I am a little bit in the sea of brave souls hurtling through the cosmos on a tiny blue rock. Thank you for bringing this amazing piece into our tiny world, Mr.Tin.

Civilization 7 has been announced for 2025 release. Mr. Tin should have this song in it along with other past Civ themes in honor of this game's history. Of all the themes, this one is by far the best one to date.

I just performed this with Christopher Tin in the Kennedy Center, Washington D.C! He came across as so kind and genuine.

I’d like to add something, man of culture. As you know it’s the Lord’s Prayer, but did you know it is in Swahili?! Ayo, I don’t mean to force anything on anyone, but we have various types of evidence for biblical events. *IF* anyone is interested, read on. *NOTE:* I can’t prove God to you. Everytime you’d boot up Civ 4 you’d have to listen to this song it was the law.

totally agreed, to talk about myself I am studying environmental engineering and I am really not happy when I see this planned messed up by many of us, but I really can not express how much I love my species, and that keeps me going every day to work for a better future for everyone of us After all, I am so proud to be a part of this species❣❤ we have reached so much and there is so much that need to be reached in the future, the ending scene with space travel really got me emotional

My grandmother and I would always be in the kitchen together when I played Civilization IV, she never understood what i was doing or why but she always took interest regardless and we had a couple inside jokes about the game after I developed a habit of going to her house to play all the time, she unfortunately passed away from cancer 2 years ago but this song right here brings her back starkly in my mind, her voice and laughter and all our good times together.. I simply can't put into words how much I appreciate what you and Firaxis have done with the Civilization series... Thank you, and please keep the army of war elephants safe for me, grandma ;)

Such a fun song to sing a choir

Was written for the Civilization game by Mr. Tin who was a fan of the series, interestingly enough this song was also the first ever video game theme song to win a Grammy Award. The song is actually the entire Lord's prayer sung in Swahili.

First video game song to get an Grammy. And for good reasons.

C. Tin still casually hearting almost everything.

After all these years, I find myself coming back to this and the theme for Civ 6. I used them both in college during a music class as a video essay and my teacher took me aside and admitted that she would never have taken video games seriously as an art form before. This music is forever timless and just inspires and is beautiful.

Deserved the Grammy. One of the best pieces of music in a video game, definitely still gets my blood pumping, still holds up.

This song is essentially a culmination of world cultures working together to create a beautiful song. The lyrics are a Swahili translation of a Hebrew verse popularized by a European religion. The composer is a Japanese immigrant to America. The game itself is based upon making a civilization, which can be based upon many civilizations that existed in the world.

I had the privilege of singing the male solo for this in my high school choir about 10 years ago. Absolutely the high point of my school choir career and even 10 years later I still come back to it and it still gives me goosebumps everytime. What an absolutely great song!

Swahili is indeed a beautiful language and I hope to hear more epic music like this in that language. Latin and Russian work great for powerful music, but there's a lot of potential to be had with Swahili. The Circle of Life and Baba Yetu are proof of that.

I'll constantly be amazed at how Chris managed to arrange something as 'commonplace' as the lord's prayer in another language into one of the most triumphant pieces of music I've ever heard... Very few orchestral compositions manage to have such an inspiring tone, and despite its brevity and use as a video game soundtrack (or perhaps because of those exact reasons) I truly believe this piece will be historically remembered alongside Mahler and Beethoven's 5th, the Goldberg Variations, Cello Suite No. 1, etc. as one of the greatest pieces of composition ever undertaken and performed...

I live in Johannesburg, so the Soweto Gospel Choir is almost on my doorstep. I was just amazed when I found out that they sang this masterpiece. I also have to take my hat of for Christopher. He is one amazing composer. To be honest his newest track for Civilization VI is also great, but still can't beat this. I love it. Just an interesting fact though, the Soweto Gospel Choir does not speak or understand Swahili either. It is more spoken in Tanzania.

I feel awful right now. Fractured my tailbone and simultaneously dealing with sickness. Listening to this song to raise my spirits. It's truly wonderful, and beautifully encapsulates the onward march of human progress. This makes me cry, but I'm sure your work on civ 7 will make me sob!

It's probably just a nostalgia thing for me then, growing up on fallout 3 and elder scrolls oblivion.

My sister kept rewinding this song to listen to it again and again for twelve hours and thinks it may end up as her number one song on spotify wrapped. She says there is no way she will listen to another song as much as she listened to this song ever again.

Even though this song is so old, it stills bring me joy and happiness and some other feeling that I cannot describe. Well deserved Grammy for the song!

The music teachers sang Baba Yetu during the farewell ceremony for our retiring dean. Now that was a VERY pleasant surprise.

When I loaded the game up for the first time as a kid, I listened to this like 19 times in a row before I could start the game. Same thing happened in civ V cos you would have baba yetu play sometimes when you picked up a tribal hut, it was such an awesome surprise, every civ game should have this song as an Easter egg.
