This is the greatest 'actor's monologue on acting' I can remember ever. Every gesture, intonation FLAWLESSLY REAL. This is the glory of a filmed play. The camera captures every nuance, ever flicker of the eyes.

The breathing is as important as the line readings. Just magnificent.

This brought me to tears, older actors sometimes dont have the passion, the dangerous to health passion that they did when they were younger. What a great actor and may I add Canadian. It seemed so personal that before the reference to Edwin Booth, i was thinking he was anguishing about his own life, no but he has had journeys through the night too. What a great performance! But it feels much to real to call it just a performance.

A great scene in O'Neill's greatest play. Plummer hits this out of the park.

One of my favorite plays. A brilliant monologue by Christopher Plummer. Every actor brings something unique to a part. You feel the anger of the character looking back at his choice for wealth over integrity.

O’Neill had the greatest gift of pulling despair out of his characters and still not depressing his audience.

Brilliant--one of the best O'Neill monologues I've seen. Would love to see him in a full production.

O'Neill's father really did perform 6,000 times in 'The Count of Monte Cristo' and it did exactly what he said it did to him.... the eternal question "What did I want to buy with all that money?"

A very personal and powerful actor's monologue about being an actor. Unlike Ralph Richardson, Plummer does a superb AMERICAN accent in this.

Don't get me wrong. It's a solid play...but this is overwrought. Like the pro actor who visits a high school and gives a presentation and later bangs underage poontang.

I saw Plummer's beginning of Hamlet's 'To be or not to be...' and it was so flat and meaningless, I couldn't go on listening. I'm tired of you amateur critics and your attempts at in depth discoveries in the skills of the actors. What do any of you know anyway?

You only saw a line or 2 and yet you judge a lengthy performance? And also judge all of us for not having the ability to have an opinion on a performance?! That’s lots of judgements… I enjoyed Plummer in Hamlet so much, and watched it over and over again to relish in every nuance. But I respect that you may have a different opinion, and hope you can respect mine .
