I didn't know that Chris Atkins is a very interesting man. He has the pleasant personality, typical of the people in Connecticut. I was prejudice about blue lagoon and I thought he and Brooke Sheild were just a beautiful pair that I had not watch the movie. At that point in life, I was more interested in serious movie and bypassed the popular ones. Now I have a lot of catching up. Too bad we hear a lot of dark stories about Hollywood but I believe the real stories of the actors are more interesting than the movies they played. They are not only bless with good looks but interesting personality too.

Hi Chris. I'm sure you don't remember me. This is Ken Rabasco. I worked with Lynn Pountney in the snack bar at the American Yacht club the summer before the start of your career with the Blue Lagoon. I worked with Lynn and Ralph the next summer while while you were filming. The talk around the club was all about you and also Richard Parker aka Parker Stevenson. I didn't know your career was so extensive. It was a shame you went through a dark period. I'm glad your back on track. God bless.

wow! i remember watching Blue Lagoon as a kid, i always wanted to be the young handsome Richard becoming a Robinson Crusoe type character on my own desert island, and what a stunning looking lad, blond and tanned, and to be that age working with the just as amazing young brook Shields - it was a great film its a real treat to see Atkins after all these years, reminiscing on his career, such a full one too, and he is so enthusiastic about everything, good on him, i really like the format of this interview too, its a real change to see an actor giving way more information than is being asked for, love the Linda Gray story, i guess with his experience way back filming Blue Lagoon must have given him the skills to become a very open man and honest man i must try and find The Pirate Movie! sounds awesome

I should’ve married her. We were together for seven years, I was too scared to pull the trigger. worst mistake of my life. We were down in Southern California before it got weird we had a great time. We would leave at midnight on the spur of the moment and sleep on the beach and stay there all day and get so burnt from the sun. Back then it was safe we did that many times, never worried one moment about sleeping on the beach at night. We took many trips to Yosemite, again leaving at midnight driving through the night arriving there in the morning as a sun came up. We were wonderful as a couple. I just couldn’t commit and she couldn’t hang around forever. Later I moved to Washington state and I called her and she came out to visit me we went to Canada just like things never ended we got along wonderfully, but I still couldn’t commit. @@davidl570 it must have been very mellow and perhaps didn’t even get the equivalent rating here in NL. My mum would’ve otherwise not have allowed to see it. She wasn’t a strict parent (like most 80s parents) but she did curate what we were allowed to watch. lol! Around that same time I was allowed to babysit my little brother and the exorcist or the shining (can’t remember which of the two) were on and I watched this as they were at the neighbors for a party. I was so scared I didn’t dare to go upstairs. So I shouted till my little brother came down. And he joined me (falling asleep next to me). Till my parents came home. She was so furious with me 🤣”Big brother”, you mean “Big irresponsible!” She shouted 🤣and instead of pity I found a stern lesson about how I wasn’t allowed to watch certain things and why that was 😂 My little brother is no longer there but it’s still a running gag how little brother baby say big brother because he didn’t dare to go or be alone anymore 😂

Blue Lagoon was one of my all-time favorite movies! Over the years, I have watched it dozens of times. I love the underwater scenes so much that I read the film's credits to see where it was filmed and saw where it was done--in Fiji, and which islands. I HAD to got there, so flew to Fiji and took a small cruise ship that toured those waters. At that time. (and maybe even still, I don't know), people could not get on those islands without getting permission from the various island Chiefs. A very clever Australian made a deal with the various Chiefs and they made a company where the Australian and the Chiefs shared the money that they earned from taking tourists on these boats, tours these seas. So I got to swim in those glorious Blue Lagoon waters! By now in my life I have travelled to countless foreign places, but still Fiji and the Blue Lagoon waters still remain the most wonderful and beautiful place I have ever seen. I didn't want to leave! It was so wonderful to read this great interview to see that Christopher Atkins is really as admirable a person in real life as he has in his movies. From reading this review and hearing him talk about how important his being a father is, my mind thought back to the movie when the couple had a baby. There was that scene where Christopher, sitting up on a hill "at watch" for a rescue ship to come, sees his wife and the baby in a pond and with love and admiration, says to his wife, "You taught him to swim!" and then comes down to get in the water to play with and hold his maybe. That hearfelt moment in the movie was really Christopher as he really is.

I felt the same about KK Downing - also blonde and blue eyed and genetically blessed. Like they won the genetic lottery and making the girls fawn over them.

Christopher Atkins, thank you for doing this interview about my favorite film when I was about 14 years old!! It was my fantasy and even though my life has had its ups and downs and I lost my only daughter at 18 when I was in my 40’s ( I def showed her this film n she loved it also-a romantic ‘til the end ) to the epidemic (;) in this country, so, all that to say, it’s still my fantasy today!! Still love Brooke!! Ya’ll have aged beautifully, the both of you, no weird tight faces, just gorgeous!!! Thanx for the memories!!!

I literally haven’t seen Chris Atkins since the blue lagoon it was my favorite movie I think I went to the theater 10 times to see it and I am not joking that’s what we had to do back then his personality here is exactly the way I would’ve thought he would’ve turned out to be it’s wonderful to see him so sweet so nice so bubbly so handsome and taking care of his family good job Chris!

Wow Chris Atkins was really Hotstuff cute back in the 80s. I was in Highschool when he and Brooke Shields were in Blue Lagoon. Also he did a full season of TV’s Dallas in 1983. He’s still a cute guy. Christopher Atkins definitely in my locker at school as a pinup🥰❤️😊💖

I loved Blue Lagoon and saw it several times, but I was bothered by the ambiguity of the ending. I managed to track down a copy of the original 1908 novel, thinking it would clarify things. It didn't. The ending of the book is exactly the same as the ending of the movie.
