Christmas Decorating - Department 56 North Pole Bookcase Dioramas

Looking for some Halloween flavor? Check out my Halloween village in the same bookcase, but with a hand made pepper's ghost tower thrown in:
• Creepy Haunted Tower F...
You can create great looking Christmas village displays on existing surfaces in your home. An elaborate table setup is not always needed.
I’ve been decorating with my Department 56 North Pole Village houses since 1993. My first house was the Reindeer Barn. That gave me the Dept 56 bug. In the subsequent 28 years I acquired a total of 21 houses in the North Pole collection and numerous accessories. While I used to put out big table displays, in recent years I’ve kept it more simple, creating smaller dioramas on existing surfaces in our house.
I plan to create a handful of videos illustrating my techniques.
Fake snow = Buffalo Now Flurries Extra Fine 5 Quarter bag. This is the first year I’ve tried it, and it is amazing. Prior to this I always used the Dept 56 brand snow.
The foam walls were carved and painted by me in 2020, so this is my second season using them.

How Lovely! Nice to read your comments and information along the way. We especially liked the different lighting effects at the end, each different colour shows a different mood! Thanks for sharing! Philandsuenorthampton

Thank you for showing your display. I am new to collecting and have decided to start with the North Pole collection. I wasn’t aware that some of the buildings spelled out North Pole. Now I have a mission on which buildings to add to my collection.

You’re welcome! I started in the mid 90s with the reindeer barn and elf bunkhouse. After a year or so I found out about the NORTH POLE houses and started snapping them up. I had to get two of them off eBay because they were already retired. But most of the retired lineup seems to be readily available. Good luck with your collection!
